this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; They are usually awarded about this time every year, but I have not heard anything as of yet. Anyone have any news? I'm curious how much love the NFL is going to show the Saints....

RE: Compensatory picks
They're given at the end of the first FA period to teams that lost out the most due to FA. So it'll still be a bit because of the delay in the NFL business year. But we lost a Pro-Bowl, but signed one also, so it'll be a wash there. Maybe a couple late picks.

Did we lose any important FAs last year, or are you speaking about the picks we were supposed to get as a result of Katrina? We won't get any for Bentley and Howard until next year.

Right, I know that. But wasn't something mentioned about the Saints receving a few picks because of Katrina? thought I had read that somewhere.
The big names we lost last year were Pathon, Riley, T-Buck, Rodgers, and Darrin Smith, although I think Smith was cut during the season. I'd give a 7th.....no......6th for that group of players |

I think B&B was asking about those picks Tags talked about because of Katrina. Don't feel alone, I was wondering about that myself. I don't see us getting that much, because I think Tags mentioned it strictly for media attention. Not to mention, the Saints aren't exactly at the top of the NFL's "cater to" list. We saw that last year w/ that home game against the Giants in New York.

Oh, the Katrina picks then. I won't be countign on that. Wasn't there also a lie about giving us help attracting FAs? Since that didn't happen, I highly doubt the compensatory picks will happen either. Just a lot of BS at the time to play up the league's image.

BnB, you're right there was mention of "picks or cap relief" to help the team. Problem is we scored BIG with Brees and the comissioner might decide we don't need it now.

Actually, it was both, but I gave up on the cap relief the minute I heard, "they're having issues with the new CBA"

Plus cap relief would mean Benson would have to spend more or seem like he doesn't care for the city. So he probably call Tags right away to nix that one.
