I also heard that the Texans may be looking at Brick to keep Carr off of his ass. If so, Bush for pres. of N.O.

Yep...for people that said Brees succeeded in SD because of LT, we'd be getting someone as good or even BETTER than LT. We'd have a two headed moster at RB, plus he could split time in the slot position.

That would be awesome to have bush in the backfield, and we probably would be crazy not to pick him up but with no o-line he would get killed. There is still a bunch of holes on off. and def. that needs to be filled.

One of our biggest problems last year was at the QB. position we solved that now we need to protect him and put players on the otherside of the ball to help the off. out.

Gandhi, I don't think you are getting what Rush is trying to say.

What he is trying to say that any team - other than the Texans and maybe the Titans - that wants Matt Leinart will have to deal with the Saints, regardless what the Saints do.
Because the Saints signed Brees, it is believed that they are NOT going to pick Leinart.
Because Chow is in Tenn., and because McNair is getting up in age and is perpetually hurt, it is understood that the Titans will pick Leinart if he is available at the 3rd spot.
If any other team wants Leinart, they'd have to deal with the Saints first, to beat the Titans to the punch.
I agree with this much of his post & I understand his logic, but showing our hand limits our trading value. By not signing a OT or a legitimate starter at center (& signing 2 LB's) we have shown every other NFL team that we want a OT & a center for sure in the draft. That limits our ability to draft in those positions later. Yes, we will still be able to draft Brick, but do you think teams with the same needs as ours will let Mangold or the remaining good LB's, or DT's slip if they know that's what we're looking at with our next pick. NO. There is good reason why other NFL teams do not show their hand before draft day. That's the point I am making. I'm not saying anyone's thinking is irrational. I'm just looking at the consequences we could have from our FO showing our hand.

P.S.- Really good posts guys. LOL

You are assuming that all other teams think like Saints fans...
Who says the new coaching staff doesn't think the current o-line is workable? We don't know that.. we assume that because Bentley is gone and we think Gandy should play like Roaf.

..the Saints have not shown anything other than they probably are not going to take Leinart with the 2nd pick because they signed Brees... other than that, no one knows what the Saints are going to do when their 15 minutes are up, being taking someone or trading the pick, or with any of their subsequent picks for that matter.

If a team has the same need as the Saints, and they are picking in front of the Saints, they are going to fullfill that need not because the Saints have the same need, but because that team has the need. No team says "man, the Saints are picking 15, we are picking 12.. if we don't pick so and so, the Saints are going to pick him, and we won't be able to pick him 32 picks later when we pick in the 2nd round"... You pick a player at a spot because he's there and you want him/need him, not because a team that picks later than you wants/needs him.

All valid points TR. Maybe I'm just so used to us blowing it, this complacency is beginning to make me wonder.

i am not sure that if reggie is there you can let him go. i mean the guy is just unreal. at the same time on showing our hand whgo says even if we don't want matt we can't draft him. lets say we don't really get a real call on someone wanting to trade up and the reason is that tenn. thinks they have him and we are taking brick. what says we don't take matt knowing that is their guy and then make a trade while they are on the clock. i don't think any team knows what we are going to do. would the smart pick for us be to get brick. sure. but we still have gandy and although he isn't great the guy isn't crap. never mind we still have stinch too. maybe that guy from the jets goodman can playe center for us. i know he isn't great but if we have to put the guy in for a year we have to. if we do get brick we have to have a vet start at center because i don't want to rookies on the line in the same year. all i know is i am so excited for this draft. i always am excited for the draft but this year really looks like it will be fun

Your team stinks

If Bush is their at the second pick I would not take him... I would trade down if we can or take Brick. We have to shore up that line. You can say take Bush and we can settle for whomever on the line is BS Championships are won on D and Line.
