Drafting Injury Prone Players

I don't know about you guys but I hate drafting players that had any injuries in college. I guess I just out the Jim Finks mold that you draft OL and DL with your high picks since games are won in the trenches.

Too often guys try to bulk up for the game and it leads to more muscle and weight on a bone structure that was never designed to hold that much. This leads to injury and you can play from the stationary bike.

I love drafting big guys that have played 3-4 year of college ball under outstanding programs that have never been seriously injured in college. This is the holy grail in football. By first stopping the run, having an outstanding pass rush and secondly establishing the run and having outstanding pass protection, it doesn't really matter (as much) who you have behind these guys.

Finks knew this and this is stil the way to go. I dont' want a LB because you haven't addressed the real problem.... the DT can't occupy both the center and guard so your MLB has to avoid a big body and the FB is free to get the SS. I don't want a CB because you need to help Duece, Brees, Hilton, Horn, Stallworth become better players by protecting the football. Remember, turnovers last year cost us most games and oddly big guys help avoid this by limiting defensive players hits at crutical times.

RE: Drafting Injury Prone Players

You've got to love bios like this....

He is a very smart player who is considered to be a coach on the field and almost always makes the proper line calls. He has a real “mean streak that you like to see in an offensive lineman and he is a very aggressive run blocker who has the ability to get to the second level as well. He has proven to be a very durable player during his time at Florida, having not missed a single game in his four year career due to injury. His streak of consecutive games started is the longest of any player in the SEC. He is a team captain and leader both on and off the field, is well known for his high character, and is a two-time member of the SEC “good works team for his community service.

Who is he?

Center - Mike Degory - Flordia. - 3rd rated
Height: 6-5 3/8
Weight: 310 lbs.
Forty Time: 5.39 - Combine
