well matt we did get a draft pick too. so it wasn't straight up. i would think it would be a third or fourth only because we don't have a third and we already have two 6 and two seven round picks. i like it. especially i the idea is to put smithy at corner. we have a hole on other side of mm. so it would be good. like someone said we still have jay. we have stinch who may be able to start and we could still draft brick if not trade dwon and get hawk. i like it. i wasn't against wayne but if we had to do it and could replace him why not. i am liking this offseason and i am so ready for this draft. wings, beers, and some talk with you clowns in the chat room. should be a nice day. my buddy is a kc fan cause he is from kansas and we were going to be watching at his crib but he is an officer in the navy and will be under way. poor guy.

We have what 6 safeties on the roster now? Smith, Bullocks, Omar, Bellamy, Scott, and Gleason. It appears Smith and Bullocks will start in the back and Gleason is our special teams ace. Scott was just traded for and Omar was just signed... this all signals to... bye bye Bellamy it's time to retire.
I'm for moving Brown to LT which is what they talked about last year when he was drafted in the first place. He got his seasoning in already and I feel confident he'll be able to be good there. I also think a healthy Stinch would make a good RT... who knows, this may all still work out and we might not have to draft Brick. I like that Hawk and Justice thing sw was talking about... that would be great. But... that only happens when you're dreaming. :P If either Jordan Black or Rex Tucker are still available, we should make a run at one of them... preferably Black. So much cap room... *cough* Arrington *cough* |

spkb25- I am too looking forward to the draft party. If all goes right, it will be too much beer, and too much chicken. I look forward to draft weekend every year. In years past, I've done okay until the middle of the first round. That is when I would pass out from excessive alcohol consumption. I usually wake up around the middle of the second round, then have to log into the internet to see what I missed. I am so looking forward to draft weekend! Take care...

Hopefully, this means we need more cap room to make a move on Arrington. Now we're minus 3 starting offensive linemen with no significant replacements in free agency. I'm now highly concerned. |

My take is, we were going to cut Gandy, he was going to be a cap hit, and we might as well get something for him. Scott to replace Mitchell isn't a bad deal for an aging, overpriced LT that was on his wayout anyway.
My next question is which safety does that mean is getting cut? Smith to CB is a good move, but I still think we get someone else in the draft or before the start of training camp (Jamar Fletcher still around?). Gleason is cheap and makes good sense on ST. Bullocks is a youngster on the verge of being a star. That only leave Stoutmire and Bellamy. Stoutmire is old, but Bellamy isn't a spring chicken either. Plus, Bellamy had a leg injury that could cost him a step...a step he really didn't have to begin with. Do you think we cut Bellamy? He's been solid for us, but I think this puts him square in the center of the table. |

BMG don't worry, I'm sure that this coaching staff has some sort of plan. So far they've done some good stuff.
But let's just consider this trade. The more I think about it, the more I think it's going to be good. We got a pretty good player in Scott. He's only 25, a former second-round pick. He had a down year, but the rest of his stats are pretty solid:
Also, you have to remember that we have Stinchcomb, who until an untimely injury, was scheduled to take over the starting tackle job. Besides, we still have the opportunity to pick up OTs in free agency that could be upgrades (especially in terms of youth and athleticism) over Gandy. Guys like Mike Pearson, Torrin Tucker, and others are still available, not to mention we still have the possibility of getting Brick in the draft if we so choose. |

i think you are right deuce. i mean there are some options. if we move smith to corner that helps a lot. the thing i don't get about all of this is that everyone has complained about our o line. now that we have let three guys go everyone is asking what in the hell are we doing. now we really didn't let three guys go because lecharles wasn't going to resign no matter what and he said that. he said he wanted to be in cleveland. the point being is we didn't like our o-line anyway. so here comes payton making chanmges. he is sending guys packing. obviously he wants a change too. we should be glad about that i would think. we have to fill the holes but i am pretty sure he knows that

I was ready for something new at LT, but for some reason I think we got hosed on the deal. If it's a third next year that's decent, but anything less we got beat. Scott hasn't shown me anything in 3 years at Atlanta & getting him looks to be a depth move on our part. So I'm hoping the draft pick is what prompted the trade. I know it sounds pessimistic, but look at what our division foes are doing. I hope there's something more to our game plan, but it currently looks like we're getting the s**t end of the stick.
