The interesting news will be to see what happens after the minicamps. Maybe Payton will decide he can't win with a few more guys? The one thing I'm seeing from Payton which is the most encouraging is that he doesn't appear to be a a victim of his own ego. One of Haslett's big downfalls may have been a limitless belief that he could "coach up" players into quality starters. Payton seems to be looking for guys who can already play. All that said, I'm still not sure what I think about the Gandy deal. He was expensive, but given the outlook on our offensive line, it might have been nice to move him inside and have veteran guards at any rate. |
