Saints Mock Draft and Good Rationale for it!
Saints Trade to Jets get #4 and #29 Saints get Vernon Davis Tight End at #4( Check out this link http://qisports.com/nfldraft.html for a bio on all of the top players everyone has been raving about including Leinart, Williams, Hawk compare and see who is truly the best playmakerand game changer. Oh, Hawk got creamed by Vince Young :P ) #29 Cromartie (If available) Mangold or Deuce Latui in descending order #34 Rodrique Wright (If anyone remembers Kevin Williams when he was drafted he had the same type of review, besides we all know that players can definitely gain weight in Nawlins) If someone really wants Mario Williams we might be able to squeeze a three and still get Davis at 5. I was with a lot of you all who want Williams or Hawk or Ngata but after seeing the film I think that Davis would fit our new tight end featuring offense a whole lot better. I have not a seen a tight end this athletic since..... since.... since...... Well I haven't ever seen one. |

RE: Saints Mock Draft and Good Rationale for it!
We have way too many needs to use a top 5 pick on a TE, i dont care how good he is. Would he help our offense? Hell yea he would, but can he block a rushing Julius Peppers on the outside? Can he run down and tackle Vick? Is he going to be able to cover Steve Smith from Carolina? nope......he would help, but I dont kare how good a player is, I'm not gunna take him to overall just cuz hes special. So if there was a bad ass kicker out of West Texas A&M, who was 95% from 45yds in, would u take him at #2?????? Over a beast of a LB or a mammoth of a tackle???? i dont think so

I know a tight end the same size as this tight end (Daniel Graham) that put Peppers on Roller skates. Davis might not be able to hold Steve smith (there are no top five corners this year anyway) but he can become as hard to cover as Steve Smith. He might not be the one to chase down Mike Vick but he can become the one as hard to catch and cover as Mike Vick.
I don't even know why you would bring a kicker in this debate. Urlarcher was a phenomenal natural athlete who is still wreaking havoc. Zach Thomas the fifth round wonder is still wreaking havoc. Good players can be found anywhere in the draft. Phenoms like Davis and I will say Super Mario cannot be found all the time. If you read my entire post I am giving you a link to follow. If you go to the link it says one of the weaknesses of Hawk is ability to change directions. Do you think Michael Vick runs straight in the open field. Sedrick Hodge could run. Mark Fields could run. This draft is deep with linebackers that can run. This draft is deep with defensive ends that can run. This draft has a only a few "mammoth" Defensive Tackles true enough but they will suffer the curse of New Orleans (gaining too much weight ala Grady Jackson, Norman Hand) Now how many tight ends are there running legitimate 4.38's with a 40 inch vertical, 465 lb bench press and 650 lb squats are there. Go look at the highlights and let me know what you think |

I see how the Patriots, Dallas, San Fran and the Steelers and in some cases the Broncos got to be dynasties. Yeah they all had stellar quarterbacks (some they got from the first round and some they got in later rounds ala Brad) but they know how to pick talent instead of a name. The linebackers from Pittsburgh were pretty much know namers until they got to Pittsburgh. ( They are all able to run, run, run and hit). Dallas always seemed to find monster D and O-line because they knew how to scout talent not name. San Fran got a certain receiver with talent that most people looked over(Jerry Rice. They did though get talent no matter what the position. Yeah a tight end at 4 is a high spot but for his ability that will translate to the pro level you get what you pay for. I hope we can get him lower but he will probably be gone. Talent, Desire, Attitude, Work Ethic, Athleticism, Leadership is mainly what I am saying but to all you naysayers I have the same desire that all of you have. I hope that the Saints find players that will turn them into a consistent playoff contender and someday superbowl champion.

Sure, Vernon Davis is supposed to be a good player, but he doesn't play a position of need at all. We have a rising star in Hilton. Why would we take another TE when we have holes at DT, LB, OL, and CB??? Saying we should draft Davis is just ridiculous. Sure he's talented, but we don't need him.
It's easy to say we should draft on talent alone, but who says AJ Hawk or Brick aren't more talented than Davis? Sure Davis can bench press the world, but when was the last time you saw a bench press machine on a football field? |

I think we need to go OLINE AND DLINE... to build this team... You build the line and D up then you can get a bigtime QB and he will be better than slice bread. You get a great QB and a horrible line you get diddly pooh.
