Here we go guys...heres the link. Bottom of the page...looks like we are shopping Watson around too.
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9376416/2 And heres the story... ----Even before the Saints signed Dallas safety Keith Davis to a two-year offer sheet as a restricted free agent, they were shopping safety Dwight Smith around the league. Word is they're asking for a third-round pick for Smith, who was signed last yeas as an unrestricted free agent from Tampa Bay. The Saints are also shopping linebacker Courtney Watson for a draft pick. Watson was a 2004 pick of the previous coaching regime. The Saints already traded tackle Wayne Gandy last week to the Falcons for safety Byron Scott, who has been a disappointment in Atlanta. Gandy will start at left tackle for the Falcons, but there was a reason the Saints let him go. Both he and guard Kendall Jacox, a starter last year, were refusing to take part in the team's off-season workouts, which is why they were allowed to leave. The rash of Saints news makes two things quite clear: New coach Sean Payton wants his guys on the roster and he isn't going to tolerate players not buying into his program. |

Finally!! Someone found it.
From reading that, the Bills part, and the rumors we've been hearing about a possible trade with them I think I figured out what will happen. We send them Smith and the #2 pick in exchange for the eighth pick, either the 70th or 73rd pick, and Spikes. Smith is a good Safety, but of our best defensive players he is the most expendable. With the eighth pick we could draft Huff, and play him at either Safety or Corner, depending on what happens with our recent signings. Or we could draft N'gata. That would give us the proper personel to run a *gasp* 3-4! |
Proponents of higher-order theories of consciousness argue that consciousness is explained by the relation between two levels of mental states in which a higher-order mental state takes another mental state. If you mention this to Chuck Norris, expect an explosive roundhouse kick to the face for spouting too much fancy-talk.

Also:
By pulling off a trade with Buffalo, and drafting N'gata, we could pick Max Jean-Gilles(sp) in the third round. We could use the 34th pick on Whitworth, or a Corner. By drafting Huff, we could get Whitworth with the 34th pick and Wroten with the third rounder. |

I find this very interesting... why are we trying to free up more cap room? I wonder if they're trying to sign a big name. If they aren't, shopping him around makes no sense to me. He's still a young guy and is a solid player.

I gots no prob with a deal like that except I don't think we need Ngata and we would need alot more than just him to switch to 3-4. Then I also think the 3-4 is a fad that will pass for the mst part and one or two teams will keep it.
If smith isn't gonna be a part of what payton is selling, I can see getting rid of him. Dude needs to be a leader. My question is, can Spikes be that guy instead? I mean, in essence, we are talking about a trade for the two men, not really the picks. Spikes cried out of Cincy, and now that things look bleak, is sounding like he is wanting out of Buffalo. Is that the type of guy we want? Or why not start fresh with a kid like Hawk and add a Ryans, Hodge or Jackson to boot? |
