Qb Brett Elliott of Linfield (Div. III) is a player I like in the late rounds ...

Takes good angles to assignments, stays under control and has enough lateral mobility to adjust to the moving target at the second level. Keeps head up, shows good awareness and does a good job of picking up the blitz as well as line stunts. Shows good footwork and can redirect inside after starting outside. Has experience playing guard as well as center and is versatile.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal lower body strength, isn't big enough to overwhelm most defensive tackles at the point of attack and will have some problems pushing the pile in short-yardage situations. While almost always gets the job done, doesn't deliver a violent initial punch and rarely dominates the point of attack. Gets adequate knee bend in pass set but has problems anchoring working against powerful bull rushers and will get pushed back into the pocket at times.

Overall: Montgomery moved from defensive tackle to offensive guard before the start of his freshman season in 2001 and Virginia Tech red-shirted him that year. He appeared in four games during the 2002 season and he started 10 of the 13 games he played in during the 2003 season. Montgomery started 13 games at center during the 2004 season and he was named first-team All-ACC after moving back to guard for the 2005 season. Montgomery isn't dominant in any one area but he is an efficient run blocker when given an angle or allowed to work in space, and he also can generally hold his own in pass protection. He may never develop into a solid fulltime starter in the NFL but he has the experience, toughness and mobility to warrant late-round attention in the 2006 class as a potential versatile interior reserve.
He sounds pretty solid. But I don't know, it says he's listed at 6'3" 310, and they say he's not big enough to swallow DTs???? That's huge for a center!

The size is all right but i guess that "Lacks ideal lower body strength" is the main issue here. Maybe a good guy for depth?
