Sleeper Picks

Who's on your wishlist?

I wouldn't mind QB Ingle Martin in the 6th or 7th, he's on a lot of sleepr lists tho.

Gerald Riggs would be a great 2nd day guy. If he could stay healthy he might get close to his vast potential.

Not just cuz he is a homie but Skyler Green. Probably have to be the 3rd tho, kinda pricey. He was never used effectively enough at LSU. Great kick returner too.

Rod Wright of Texas has as much talent as any DT but could slip to Day Two for his lack of drive. IF you could light his fire he could be a surprise. Yew, reminds me of another chicken eating slob as I type that.

Not too sleepy is CB DeMario Winter. With a good field of DBs to choose from he might get pushed back some.

A project- Drouzon Quillen out of LSU-Monroe, 6-6, 215lb, 4.55 WR

I've never heard of Quillen, sounds like a real athlete. What was his production like?

Will Blackmon
Chris Barclay (ACC Player of the Year, unbelievable quickness)
Kyle Williams, not really a sleeper, but not getting a lot of pub.
If Thomas Howard slips a whole lot, I'd like to have his athleticism

Will Montgomery OG/C from VT. Why is noone talking about him? He ran a 5.08 40 and repped 35 times at 225, Top 5 in 40 and Top in bench. He also has started games at both C and OG, but noone talks about him. I am pretty sure noone injuries either. I would love to have him. AND Jeff King as back-up TE.

Strengths: Possesses good initial quickness, rarely takes false steps and is an efficient drive blocker. Stays balanced and generally does a good job of sustaining blocks once in position. Shows adequate range, has adequate athletic ability and can get around the corner when asked to pull. Takes good angles to assignments, stays under control and has enough lateral mobility to adjust to the moving target at the second level. Keeps head up, shows good awareness and does a good job of picking up the blitz as well as line stunts. Shows good footwork and can redirect inside after starting outside. Has experience playing guard as well as center and is versatile.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal lower body strength, isn't big enough to overwhelm most defensive tackles at the point of attack and will have some problems pushing the pile in short-yardage situations. While almost always gets the job done, doesn't deliver a violent initial punch and rarely dominates the point of attack. Gets adequate knee bend in pass set but has problems anchoring working against powerful bull rushers and will get pushed back into the pocket at times.

Overall: Montgomery moved from defensive tackle to offensive guard before the start of his freshman season in 2001 and Virginia Tech red-shirted him that year. He appeared in four games during the 2002 season and he started 10 of the 13 games he played in during the 2003 season. Montgomery started 13 games at center during the 2004 season and he was named first-team All-ACC after moving back to guard for the 2005 season. Montgomery isn't dominant in any one area but he is an efficient run blocker when given an angle or allowed to work in space, and he also can generally hold his own in pass protection. He may never develop into a solid fulltime starter in the NFL but he has the experience, toughness and mobility to warrant late-round attention in the 2006 class as a potential versatile interior reserve.
He sounds pretty solid. But I don't know, it says he's listed at 6'3" 310, and they say he's not big enough to swallow DTs???? That's huge for a center!

Will Blackmon--he'd end up starting before his rookie year was over.
Chris Chester--G/C--Oklahoma--not sure that he lasts into day 2, but I like bringing him in. If we miss Mangold, he's my second choice.
Eric Bassey--CB/S--Oklahoma--lot's of upside and may not even be drafted, well worth a 7th.
Drouzon Quillen--WR--La Monroe--super tall corner of the end zone jump ball guy. Good hands against Arkansas this year, nightmare for corners to match up against.
Brad Smith--WR--Missouri--I like the idea of him being our Randle-El. Just adds a dimension to the offense if we could count on him to catch the ball as a WR.

These guys I don't know much about, but strike me as nice camp bodies if nothing else.
Richie Ross--WR--Neb Kerney--super tall WR, good hands, might go undrafted
Kwakou Robinson--DT--Virginia--late rounder, could turn into a NT.
Gerald Anderson--DT--Georgia--possible NT and what would a Saints draft be without an obligatory player from Georgia or Ohio State?
Anthony Montgomery--DT--Minnesota--possible NT
