Our draft sucked... but what's new?
Bush is a great player, but we did not fill a need by selecting him. Not only is Deuce eating up crap room as we speak, now Bush will be doing the same. How much money are we planning to invest at one position? I'm not disappointed to see Bush in the Black and Gold, but we could have done so much more by trading down.
Roman Harper? Who the heck is this guy and what the hell is our infatuation with acquiring safeties this offseason? Does Bullocks or Dwight Smith ring a bell? How about Scott, Stoutmire, and Gleason? Didn't we also try to get this Smith guy from Dallas? Sure we got a solid center in return, but we could have easily filled that need in the 4th round. Hell, didn't we sign some guy from New York to play center? Look at the guys we passed on... Jimmy Williams, Winston Justice, Ashton Youboty, D'Qwell Jackson, etc. If we would have selected any of these guys in the second round, I would not be as angry as I am with our draft. Bush and anyone one of these guys would have gotten a thumbs up from me for our first day selections. Bush and Harper simply does not cut it for me... you are not going to find your Roy Williams in this guy Payton and Loomis... what are you two dimwads thinking?! I know why I had to work today... the higher power wanted me to miss this draft so I wouldn't have a pull a hole into my TV. I really do... I mean really really do hope I'm wrong about this because I don't know if I'll be able to live with another Loomis draft. Please Loomis, make me look stupid. |

Our offense got more exciting, but I don't see where we helped our team a whole lot more. The Harper pick killed me. I oculda lived with Bush, but the players we passed on with Harper? Ugh.

You do realize that in the second round they also got the starting center from Cleveland, a 25yr old former 21st overall pick... not too shabby, I'd say... so, in 2 rounds, the Saints got:
Reggie Bush - Next Gayle Sayers Jeff Faine - Starting Center, need position, 1st pick overall in 2002 Roman Harper - S As for the safety posistion, Bellamy is 33, and nothing to write home about, Bullocks was picked by Haslett, we don't know much about him because we haven't seen him play, really; maybe Payton doesn't like him? |

The Harper pick just fuels the fire that Smith will either be traded or shifted back to corner. Otherwise, there is no reason the saints had to bring in 3 new safeties this year.

The way he's been trying to purge our roster Tobias... it doesn't seem he likes anyone.
In reference to GoldRush... ROFL... look at the last 5 years of us drafting on the second day homie and how many of them are still here or even turned into a decent pro. That's what I thought. I'm sure we'll land some hidden gem in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds. I mean after all, we are the Saints. Our special teams got more exciting you mean sw... it's sure going to be fun watching him return kicks and punts. Unless we have something really creative planned for the guy, I don't see him getting more than 10 carries a game unless Deuce gets hurt again. That's a pretty damn big insurance investment for Deuce. Look I'll be the first people to go order Bush's jersey, but it did not make sense of us to select him. The Texans were smart to realize what's the point in drafting another running back if you already have a solid guy under contract who's getting make a load of money. Like I said above... I really hope Loomis makes me look like a fool. I'll be the first one to admit it if Harper pans out. |
