that was then, this is now. runningbacks may score you points, but a good corner is equally as coveted. buchanon has had a much better return on investment than bennett, mainly because of injuries. but still, he's been the better player....

Cornerback is the highest paid possition (for Franchise Tags purposes) in the league. CB's are worth their weight in gold for good reason. And all safties jokes aside, we need more DBs (corners) to come to camp. It's the only way to get four or five good ones is to have a bunch to workout.

If I was calling the shots, I would keep Bennett. The way RB's get hurt in the NFL, having too many good one's is a very nice problem to have. The Saints should not have any salary cap issue's, so why not keep him? There is nothing wrong with keeping 6 RB's on an NFL roster as long as they are good. Last time I looked, there is nothing bad about having Deuce, Reggie Bush, Michael Bennett, Aaron Stecker, Fast Freddy, and Mike Karney all on the same roster. I will say if we can get a quality starter for Bennett then he needs to be traded. I seriously doubt the Saints will be able to find a quality starter for this guy. With that said, I would much rather see Bennett returning kicks along side of Beerman, and let Reggie Bush get his 15-20 touches playing on offense and not special teams.

The Bennett story is almost like Courtney Watson...Watson would be the odd man out at LB and he would be cut so why not get something in return. Bennett's role disappeared the day we got Bush so why waste a roster spot when you can get something in return? An OLineman or a LB or a corner that could contribute would help more than having an extra RB.

Having Bennett at 3 makes me feel a lot more confortable. I can understand him not wanting to do that, though.

Yeah depth is great, but do you really need someone like Bennett as your third guy or would you be better off getting someone that has more of an opportunity to help you out at another position?

looking at the Texans roster I do not see a CB coming our way. they just cut 2 DT so the DT is trimmed. Junior Ioane would be worth a look. That leaves LBs and the fact Houston is going to a 34 D. They picked up DeMeco Ryans, Sam Cowart, and Wali Rainer so there might be something there, but I do not see it. They are loaded C too. Just tell me it is a pick please. a 4 or a 5.
