Watson/Moore trade nullified

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; uh yeah, that is what I responded to about the Hutchinson reference... it was a minor point, the overpaying issue was the point not the technicality of the transition tag. Bentley WOULD have been obligated to TOP 5 OL pay ...

Remember guys, the CBA is composed of a bunch of lawyers. Those guidelines they give for free agency matters are just that.....guidelines. Lawyers can bend words in any direction to make their points. It all depends on whose hearing their arguments. That is exactly why I don't get into those kinds of debates. God, I hate lawyers.

I'm ready to move on. I don't think we could have gotten anything, Whodi does. That's past now. It's all good for me.

What about Donte Stallworth? Do we trade him now, extend him, or deal with the same scenario after the season?

Still? Man this is disappointing. Noone referenced Hutchinson but you. I simply corrected you saying the transition tag gets top 5 also. I even repeated it in all my responses, which you responded to. I even outlined what we were talking about. I even highlighted, underlined, italicized, and made it larger. And still? Really, very disappointing.

If he really is on the trading block, we could probably get alot for him right now. There are alot of teams on the hunt for solid WR's (Jacksonville, Green Bay, etc...). According to most analysts, Stallworth is the top receiver on the block. We could probably get more for him now than we could have before. I'm interested to see what teams are willing to offer for him. Call me hopeful...... but if we loose him, we have a lot of good young receivers awaiting their turn. I really think that Marques Colston could be special. 6'4"-225lbs., runs a 4.55, & doesn't drop squat. He played for a BFE school, so not many people noticed him. Then again... Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, & Joe Horn played for BFE schools too. He really put on a show in the Shrine game. We already know Haas is money, even if he is slow by NFL standards. Remember Eric Martin? And we've also got the speedster....Devery Henderson. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

It's all good dude. Yes, you did highlight, etc. all about a technical point. Accept my humble apology for making an error on the minor point. My stance on the major point of what I was related is still the same. I do not think they could have gotten anything for him with everyone knowing he wasn't wanted at the Franchised price ala the Corey simon example.

Whaddya do with Stallworth?

Man, it KILLS me to say it, KILLS ME, but if we got a good offer for Stallworth, i'd be tempted to take it. Stall is one of my favorite players though, and I don't wanna see him go. But as you outlined ghandi, we have some players who could fill the void. I wanna see Devery step up. And I like that kid Hass. Papaz keeps praising Mr. Glass, and people seem to think Joe can come back. I think outside of being a possession receiver, Joe is pretty much done, but that's here nor there. I do not want to see Stall go, but if we got a good offer, I think we'd have to take it. I agree his value should be increased at this point. Maybe a late first?

Please no Donnie Edwards. He wants big money and he's getting a little long in the tooth.
