Well isnt Donte's forte running by people and getting the deep ball? That is certainly not Brees' game...not before the injury and certainly not now...i dont see Brees being a central figure in Donte improving...but i hope i am wrong.

I've seen Brees throw perfect passes down field to Parker and McCardell plenty of times... and we've seen him dump down to Gates and Tomlinson all the time. As far as Stallworth is concerned, his game certainly is to run by people. He's never been much of a deep threat down field though. Catching slants along with those intermediate routes and making people miss imo is his forte.

The only reason Donte couldnt get deep last year, is because the other team knew Joe was hurt and could play more cover on Stallworth. They also knew that the TOOL running our offense was going to hand it to whoever the RB at the time was , and our RB was going to get a 2 yard gain, Because Gumby wasnt going to audible out of it, and thus results in Donte with..... maybe apass for a few yards over the middle, or maybe Hollywood on a 10 yd comeback.... but more than likely... if there was 35 defenders in the box, he was going to hand it off........ Dont get mad fellas this............. is the fat tire talking. and like I tell my wife when Im drinking. Im more honest

So are you telling me that throwing the long ball is Brees's strength? I never thought that was one of his biggest attributes, but one of his few negatives. I can see him hitting Donte on a slant for a big game, just not down the sideline for a 70 yard score.

Jim, Brees played in an offense built around LT & Gates. He wasn't required to throw the deep ball. But when he needed to he could. Look at the WRs there and remember that McCardell (who I love) was considered a BIG improvement for the position and he's not the best out there that's for sure.

Well I think he has a point to an extent. I think Joe Horn will be Joe Horn pretty much, but we have a healthy Deuce and Reggie Bush to get the ball to. People that are expecting Stallworth to have career numbers will be disappointed. Fact is we don't NEED him to have career numbers. What we need is for Horn to be the Horn that we all know, for Deuce to get us about 1,100 or 1,200 yards, and for Bush to get us about 8 to 10 TDs in one form or another. Stallworth's production will go up no doubt, but it won't be on an exponential level because he'll be our second and sometimes third option this year with Bush in the passing game.

Well, apparantly you are a chargers fan since you have seen Brees throw the deep successfully "many times". Now you say he didnt have to throw the deep ball...my point was that throwing the deep ball is not his strong suit...and the shoulder injury isnt going to help him much in that aspect.

Actually, Brees was pretty good with the deep ball. He may not have the distance that say, Aaron Brooks, has, but his balls are accurate. As strong as Brooks' arm was, his balls where no where near accurate. He constantly over or underthrew. Brees might not throw 70+ yards, but he'll throw 50 and actually connect.

No... apparently I'm a big football fan period. I don't restrict myself to strictly Saints football. I can talk to you about every team out there and probably every single sport out there besides hockey. So though that probably was meant to be an insult, it failed miserably.

And that part was mine. So you should make sure to argue points with the same person if you're saying they contradicted themselves.

And just like papz I'm a huge football fan overall. The Saints are the reason I've got Sunday Ticket, but I don't turn off the TV after thier game is over. In fact my TV does split screen so I watch two games at a time most of the time, and watch stats live online at the computer. Oh and papz, I've got you covered on hockey, it's my #2 favorite sport.
