Giants | K. Coley released
Fri, 21 Jul 2006 08:41:49 -0700

Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports the New York Giants have released LB Kevis Coley.

Defensive Player of the Year
Kevis Coley, Sr. Southern Miss 6-1, 231lbs, 4.60
Not only did Coley lead the league in tackles with 144, he made 22 more stops than the number two tackler. His solo tackles along would've made him the league's 18th best. He was also one of the league's top pass rushers with five sacks.

Broncos | Gause waived from team
Mon, 24 Jul 2006 18:44:15 -0700

The Denver Broncos announced DL George Gause has been waived from the team.

Pros: Consistently improving, has put up good numbers. Is very strong, has good size.
Cons: Has split time between LB and DE, needs more time at the position, will improve. Speed is average, not great.

Broncos | Buhl waived from team
Mon, 24 Jul 2006 18:43:45 -0700

The Denver Broncos announced LB Josh Buhl has been waived from the team.

Pros: He has very good experience at LB and has excellent speed and quickness for the position. He has a nose for the ball, always around the action. Outstanding mobility, all over the field, and very opportunistic.

Cons: Josh struggles against big blockers and must improve his handwork to shed them. Needs to ass bulk and strength for bulk/mass/strength in the NFL, plays with too much finesse and needs to play more aggressive

Patriots | Doty waived
Mon, 24 Jul 2006 18:40:06 -0700

Patriots.com reports New England Patriots OT Jon Doty has been waived from the team

ANALYSIS: A finesse blocker who does a solid job protecting the quarterback's blind side, Doty offers good upside potential for the next level. Already effective in pass protection, he must add bulk and strength to his frame to complete the package

Eagles - Released Jeff Roehl only two days after claiming him off waivers...Saw a story about this guy on the NFL network a year or two back when he was a rookie with the Giants...He ended up starting several games for them...IMO i think he would be a good pick up...he's a Coughlin guy so he's used to discipline..we could use another tackle and he's young

'06 in NFL Europe.
Yep that was his 15 minutes of fame as a rookie. Remeber his playing time was due to FA loss and injuries in NY.
In 06 he did so so in europe. At least that was the word here in Boston. Maybe he is happy with the 15 minutes of fame. The Eagles are pretty deep with back ups, its the starters they are having trouble with. As for the Patriots they have excellent depth on the line. Last year proved it. In NE as a third option on the line at best. So he might be worth a look.
Sorry I missed that one.

Patriots | Beisel might be utilized differently in 2006
Sat, 27 May 2006 17:33:32 -0700

Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots LB Monty Beisel said he has spoken with defensive coordinator Dean Pees and was given the indication he will be utilized differently during the 2006 season, possibly to take better advantage of his speed. Beisel has also spent time with new linebackers coach Matt Patricia. Beisel said, "``I think it's going to be really good [with Matt]. That's one thing they talk about around here, when people come and people go, the transition is always smooth. I think it's been seamless so far." Beisel projects to compete with LBs Ryan Claridge, Eric Alexander, Barry Gardner, Larry Izzo and Don Davis for playing time at inside linebacker. If LB Mike Vrabel moves back to outside linebacker, Beisel is a top candidate to start at inside linebacker.
