Saints | Team to meet with Meadows
Tue, 25 Jul 2006 19:17:59 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports free agent OL Adam Meadows (Panthers) will fly to Jackson, Mississippi to meet with the New Orleans Saints at their training camp Thursday, July 27. Okay so he signed in 3/04 with the panthers only to retire on 8/04. We better know him from his days with the colts. 6-5, 290 Georgia Transactions Retired (8/10/04)...Signed as free agent by Carolina (3/9/04)...Released by Indianapolis (2/27/04)...Signed to contract extension by Indianapolis (2/1/01)...Placed on injured reserve by Indianapolis with an injured left shoulder (12/24/03)...Selected by Indianapolis in the second round (48th overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft (4/19/97). GP/GS Career (103/96) [3/3]; 2003 (12/5) [0/0]; 2002 (14/14) [1/1]; 2001 (15/15); 2000 (16/16) [1/1]; 1999 (16/16) [1/1]; 1998 (14/14); 1997 (16/16). Career Highlights Started 61 games from 1999-2002 for Indianapolis while helping quarterback Peyton Manning become the first player in NFL history to pass for more than 4,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. Cleared the way for Colts running back Edgerrin James to lead the NFL in rushing in 1999 and 2000. Contributed to Indianapolis offensive line that ranked second in the NFL for fewest sacks yielded with 22 in 1998, led the League in fewest sacks surrendered with a team-record 14 in 1999 and tied for the NFL lead for fewest sacks allowed with 20 in 2000. Part of Colts offensive line that ranked first in the NFL in 1998 and 1999 and second in the League in 2000 in sacks allowed per pass attempt. Along with guard Tarik Glenn, became the first opening day rookie starters on the offensive line for Indianapolis since 1984 when they started at Miami (8/31/97). http://www.panthers.com/team/teamRos...s.jsp?id=11838 Now this would be a great risk to take. He sat out a year to let the shoulder heal i am guessing. so a another one year wonder contract for us? the price will be right just as it was with simmons. Atlanta is looking at him also. Falcons | Team to meet with Meadows Tue, 25 Jul 2006 19:13:56 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports free agent OL Adam Meadows (Panthers) will undergo a physical exam for the Atlanta Falcons Wednesday, July 26. |

RE: Panther to a Saint?
I certainly wouldn't mind having Meadows on the team to bolster the line a little bit. If he can't win a starting job in camp, then at least he will give us some solid depth.

Cowboys | Team contacts Meadows' agent Fri, 28 Jul 2006 05:36:18 -0700 Jean-Jacques Taylor, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys have been in contact with the agent for free agent OT Adam Meadows (Panthers), who is coming out of a two-year retirement. The Cowboys almost signed Meadows in 2004, before he signed with Carolina. Possibly Colts | Team could pursue Meadows Fri, 28 Jul 2006 22:00:38 -0700 Tom James, of the Terre Haute (Ind.) Tribune-Star, reports the Indianapolis Colts may pursue free agent OL Adam Meadows (Panthers) now that they have reportedly released OL Makoa Freitas. now Makoa Freitas would be nice to bring in also. he would be a practice squad guy. Could develope into something good. Position: Guard/Offensive Tackle College: Arizona Height: 6-4 Weight: 307 Hometown: Manoa, Hawaii Career Notes | Agility | High School | Personal | Stats ANALYSIS Positives: Big-boned blocker with a thick chest, legs and thighs … Has developed a very aggressive demeanor, showing strong leg drive to explode off the snap, engage defenders and sustain his blocks … Has good lateral agility moving in the short area … Displays proper arm extension, shuffling his feet and keeping his leg base wide to maintain balance setting up in pass protection … Active with his hands, using them well to create separation and lock out the defender … Has above average strength, showing the ability to uncoil on contact … Displays the leg base and stance to deliver a solid initial punch coming off the snap. Negatives: Does not sink his hips properly to get a good anchor in drive blocking and will lose his balance when trying to contain multiple defenders … Struggles to make upfield adjustments on the linebacker, thanks largely to a lack of natural foot agility … Plays too high coming out of his stance, preventing him from gaining momentum … Not an effective trap blocker due to difficulties with his mobility and adjustment skills on the hoof … Too straight-legged in his stance, causing defenders to yank and tug on him while getting their hands into his chest … Shorter than ideal to play tackle and his inline blocking skills may be better suited for guard at the pro level http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/freitas_makoa |
