this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; chrxis....I am one of the let it goers. LOL. I feel you completely. What I AM saying is that we can't stop them from doing that. So we have 2 simple choices....either fight to the death....or just ignore the fact ...

chrxis....I am one of the let it goers. LOL. I feel you completely. What I AM saying is that we can't stop them from doing that. So we have 2 simple choices....either fight to the death....or just ignore the fact that there are those here that can't really take anything objectively and tend to crucify posts word for word for the sake of arguement. Then you have those that can see that you are simply stating something for the sake of emotion or whatever the reason. You can ignore or fight. I have done both. Its all a matter of choosing your battles wisely.

And one more thing Chrxis, these guys are not mind readers. They can't tell if you are just stating something or arguing a point. These guys see what they see and call out what they feel is inaccurate. Do you honestly think you or anybody can stop that? Do you expect these guys to see you coming from a mile away and realize that you just wanted to say something and not necessarily want it to be argued or dissected? Like I said....either you wanna make a point and fight it out....or realize that they are not on the same wave length you are in and ignore the proposed debate.

who was name calling? in most cases i point out right from the get go that it is my opinion... "imo" or from my point of view or whatever, but i almost always point out that what i'm saying is only an opinion.... and again you're missing my point.... i am not against anyone having an opposite view point.... hell, i encourage that.... i'm not against someone voicing their disagreement with what my view point is.... i am against the lack of respect that i get from a large number of other members..... i can't be wrong about an opinon, no more than anyone else can be right... understand? i'm not wrong about my opinion.... i can be wrong about the facts that i serve as my basis for my opinion but my opinion is not wrong.... and on top of that, if you are to tell someone that they are wrong, do it in a respectful, non-confrontational way.... don't try to flame, embarass, or belittle the person that you are correcting.... it just comes off like you think you know everything and that's just not cool... we all, including myself, need to be more classy than we are and that we show by how we interact with each other....

Slight misunderstanding chrxis. I was not implying that you were name-calling...I mentioned it as more of a guidline thing. Kinda like 411. did not mean to make it sound like i was accusing or even implying that you were name-calling.
Oh and one more thing. I DO understand your point. I also KNOW how you feel thats why I was kinda giving you some tips or pointers so you don't let this frustrating phenomenon that can occur in these boards get to you. Just tryin to be helpful buddy. Nothing more. |

It isn't just how you react to someone's opinion, but also how one's opinion is forced on you. If you put your opinion out for public approval, be prepared for rebuttal. Ive read the follow up posts to your "opinion" and both posts left statistical and factual evidence to support their opinion in hopes of convincing you and others to subscribe to their beliefs. They were very clear, lucid, and thought out scenarios that if anything expanded on your "opinion" before you got defensive about opinion encroachment. (5 yd penalty - Repeat Same Idea) When you put a disclaimer on your statements that it is your opinion, that does not give you carte blanche to say whatever you feel and get away without any one calling you on it. In fact by labeling something as your opinon you open yourself up for, if not invite, others to challenge your postings with their own interpretations of the same subject. It is called a discussion or debate and is the very reason most of us come to this site overother fluffy fan sites where your opinion must match that of the moderator (15 yd penalty - automatic ejection) You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but if you want others to respect it, then you have to come up with hard factual or statistical and well thought out evidence to back it up or you will get stuffed everytime. And if you want to cry foul everytime there is the slightest contact, then you may as well take your ball and go home. I cant believe there is 4 pages of this |

why do you have to have to have "hard factual or statistical" evidence? you can have an opinion w/o that.... i can have the opinion that blue is my favorite color.... i don't need any proof or reason why, it's just my opinion.... i don't cry foul everytime when someone opposes my idea or opinion, but i expect and deserve to have the same respect extended to me that i extend to others... i'd love to absolutely hang ppl on here b/c of some of the retarded ideas or opinions they have, but i don't b/c i'm not a jackass.... there's no reason for anyone to be that way, b/c nobody is really right and nobody is really wrong.... we're all somewhere in the middle...
