Hear me out...Brees for MVP?

L.T. is a freak and I don't think anyone would not want him on their team. He is the main reason why the Chargers are kicking butt and taking names, but wasn't that expected of him? Drew, on the other hand.... Here's a guy that had to basiclly put himself on the auction block. No one wanted him because they thought his arm was done. NOLA picks him up, every sports writer is questioning the pick up and doubts he'll be the QB he once was. So what does Drew do? He moves into the city, becomes a native, LEADS, I say again, LEADS this team to 9-4 with 8 straight 300+ yard games and always commends Payton and his teammates with the win, and himself with the losses. I don't know if they do a co-MVP, but this year should be the exception. |

I can't remember exactly, but I think Al Michaels said that Brees should get MVP also. If not, he has come-back-player-of-the-year locked up. Dream scenario would be Brees for MVP, Deuce for comeback-player-of-the-year, Payton for Coach-of-the-year, and the Saints with NFC and Superbowl Championship.

What about Bush or Coulston (if he has a strong final three games and postseason) for Rookie of the Year?
Now back to the original question, I believe that Brees has a decent shot at Keague MVP, but it would probably take two or three more impressive wins in the regular season and some monster stats. Sure, he truly is a leader, the biggest reason for the SAINTS impressive win count and a huge comeback story, but a lot of voters will have a hard time seeing past L.T.'s touchdown count. But, I still believe that Drew has a shot and deserves to at least be a strong contender. |
Go SAINTS!!!!!

I think Brees deserves Co-MVP (McNair & Manning shared it a few years ago so it's not a new idea). You can't take anything away from Tomlinson just because he's expected to be great.
Brees leads the league in passing yards and QB rating. He's taken a 3-13 team and moved it into the second slot in the NFC with the #1 offense in the league. He deserves co-MVP. His best shot at owning the MVP slot is for SD to lose a game (or two), and for LT to win the rushing title. Then MVP voters might just think that's enough of an award for him. But I doubt it. |

Peter King says in his MMQB column today that Brees is the MVP.

Didn't Brett Favre and Barry Sanders share it about 10 years ago. I got no prob w/ them splitting the award, it's unfair to choose between the two and what the heck they are former teammates and both class acts.
Brees is really playing well right now. I never thought I'd make this comparison, but the way he scans the field, checks off his receivers, his mastery of the passes in the flat and the slants routes, almost always makes an accurate throw regardless of whatever duress he is under, his unwavering leadership and presence in the huddle - those traits remind me of Dan Marino. I do not make that comparison lightly because Dan Marino rocked like no other QB. We've got a special QB that most other teams (just ask a Bear fan) would die for. |
