clinch #2 seed next week...
WOW. What a game last night, absolute domination! My friends who are jets and giants fans were calling me last night telling me that had no idea the saints were this good. Anyways, after the game I was so pumped up that I couldn't fall asleep and correct me if I'm wrong but I think we can clinch a first round bye next week, here's how...
Saints: 9-4 (8-1 against nfc) Cowboys: 8-5 (5-4 against nfc) Seahawks: 8-5 (6-4 against nfc) Giants: 7-6 (6-3 against nfc) Eagles: 7-6 (6-3 against nfc) Falcons: 7-6 (5-4 against nfc) Now, if we win next week against washington, cowboys lose to atl, seahawks lose to san fran, eagles beat giants, (all of which could very well happen) the records would be... Saints: 10-4 (9-1 against nfc) Cowboys: 8-6 (5-5 against nfc) Seahawks: 8-6 (6-5 against nfc) Eagles: 8-6 (7-3 against nfc) Falcons: 8-6 (6-4 against nfc) Giants: 7-7 (6-4 against nfc) So even if we lost our last 2 games, the cowboys, seahawks, eagles and falcons could only tie us but we'd have a better conf record than all of them except the eagles who we already beat. I know its a lot of "what ifs" but its another possibility for next weekend. |

I don't think that will happen this week. It's going to be a race to the finish-line with 'da Bears, imo.

The Saints will win the NFC South this weekend but will still have a lot of work to do.
The Season started yesterday against the Cowboys. |

RE: clinch #2 seed next week...
Nice analysis! Now I know who to pull for next week.
In some ways I hope that the Giants win. I just feel that every game is better if there is an additional motivation to play it. Since we meet the Giants on Christmas eve, it would be excellent to have to beat them to get the bye. The above analysis also points out that Dallas could be in real trouble because I think you have them and the Eagles backwards in that scenario. The Eagles have already beaten Dallas this year, are 3-1 in the division, and 6-3 in the conference. Each of those are better than Dallas' corresponding marks. If they end up tied, the Eagles get the nod. In fact I believe that with America's Beatdown Sunday night by the Saints, the Eagles have regained control of their destiny in the NFC East no matter what happens to Dallas in Atlanta. If the Eagles wins out in the NFC East (with 2 more games to go), and finishes with at least a tie with Dallas, they win the East. Interesting! The same is true for the Giants. They have a tied record with Dallas head to head and a better division record. Note that Dallas has lost to each of their division opponents already this season with one more game to play. They can't finish better than 3-3 in the division while both the Eagles and the Giants are currently 3-1 and can finish no worse than 3-3 in the division. So the upcoming Eagles-Giants game in the Meadowlands this week is likely for the NFC East Crown with the Eagles having the inside track due to the fact that they get the Cowboys in Dallas that next week. They win those two games, they likely win the East. But first for the Saints... Washington and the division. SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

Simple:
Beat the Redskins, they win the division. Win 2 out of the last 3, they get the #2 seed. |

One more win coupled with some help may secure the #2 seed. Two wins secures the #2 seed. 12-4 would be sweet! SFIAH |
