Martin wont make it next year...he has a bad back and was a questionable for a few weeks this year, thats why the signed Fife to the active squad for a few weeks at the begining of the season...Look for them to sign him or someone else again for the playoffs...I like the guy, but he has the same problem many longtime backups have, no pocket awareness..

True, the protection wasn't very good.
But, to me, martin's release was really slow and he did not do a good job of getting the ball out quickly. I guess I have been spoiled because drew gets it out so fast. |

I would look at signing a new backup QB for next year. Yea he did play with all of the backups, but he just looked very weak and didn't have that good of awareness in the pocket. A good veteran QB would be nice as a backup, but a great rookie QB would be nice also.

He's a backup quarterback who finally got some playing time with our 2nd and 3rd stringers against Carolina's starters. He did a good job out there and handled himself very well. Not everyone has Jeff Garcia, a 3 time ProBowler, as their backup quarterback. Lay off the guy.
Our backups did a good job out there... especially Scott. I thought he was great in run support. Clark also had a good game. Our backup corners didn't look so good out there. They got torched frequently. |

I think Martin's biggest problem was lack of playing time. I've seen him play before, for another team, and he looked pretty damn good for them. And while hes certainly no Drew Brees, hes a capable back up, and would do fine if our starters are playing with him. Especially since we'd probably lean heavily on the running game. And speaking of starters, while i would've liked to see them play just a bit longer, they did look sharp and I beleive thats what Sean was looking for. If they had played sloppily, I think Sean would've played them much longer than he did. As it is, its Sean's decision and we all just have to trust that he made the right one. After all, hes done pretty good so far.
