I don't see a problem with it. He has never had a fair shake at Houston. Horrible line, horrible team. He's running for his life everytime he hikes the ball. I think it's a sound trade for a No. 2 QB. Lord knows we need one, Jamie Martin sucks.

Martin SUCKS????????????????????
The only time I saw him play he was with the second team for the most part vs the panthers. Hmm Pathers D sucks too? They did play thier starters for the game didn't they? What I saw was the second string Offense that needs to be upgraded. OL stood out as the area of more need than other. The second string D looked to be not as much of a drop off but then again the first string has alot of areas of need. As for Carr he will be a starter some where in the NFL. I hope he gets an OL that is established for the first time. Poor guy can take a beating you have to admit. For the saints? I do not think so. there are other options for a backup at a lesser salary that can fill in a pinch |

Draft a young qb late, and either keep martin or sign another cheap but experienced backup

I don't think we need another backup QB. Martin isn't stellar, but he is what he is: a backup QB. That being said, I've always been a fan of Carr. I think he is a good QB, not elite level, but good nonetheless. Like everybody knows, he plays behind quite possibly the worst offensive line in NFL history. Also, don't underestimate how much it hurts him that Houston has never had a great running attack to take some pressure off of him. I like Carr, but it doesn't make sense to use a pick for him when we have the position covered, and other holes to fill.

I had high hopes for Martin as a backup, and after the Panthers game I was scared every time Brees was hit, because without Brees we have no shot, maybe with Carr it would be different. 3rd round I agree is too much though.

young or old makes no difference as long as they can carry the load..... while carr is shellshocked, who would'nt be in his shoes? give that guy sometime and he'll bring you down the field everytime. while i'm just wishing, all of you pretty much knew if brees went down we were through for the season...yeah, martin may have lead us to the playoffs but we'll never know and i don't wanna.............smitty |

Carr is not a bad QB, its just that the people in HOUSTON are stupid. The draft last year should have proved that. If Carr was on a Tampa team this year, or even say the Cowboys he might even be a pro bowler.
They have never addressed the OL, and Carr just takes hit after all season long. Young should be thanking his lucky star the Texans didnt draft him, Bush should be doing the same thing as well. |

And if I remember correctly, we lost that game against the Panthers. |

Carr would be a great #2, but I doubt that he'd want to play second fiddle to Brees. I think he's a high-character guy and I haven't heard him complain even though things have been far from ideal in Houston. A 4th or lower for him would be great.
