Well we have a couple of fourth round picks so it wouldn't cost us much in trying to sign the guy. He's young and has starting experience. At worse, he would make a good nickel corner for us. I'd support the move.

A fourth rounder for a proven starter at our area of biggest need, when we have 3 fourth round picks to play with? Where do we sign up?

And if he couldn't play man I don't think the front office would force a round peg in a square hole. These guys seem to know what they're doing.

replacement

unless they are just looking at replaceing Fred then this is good. I hope they still go after a big name CB in the draft.

For those of you who are second guessing the decision, he is roughly the same age as most of the guys coming out in the draft, and he has 3 years of NFL experience. You cant find that kind of player in the 4th round. And if the Saints were to sign him, it doesnt mean that they still wouldnt draft one...or two.

I just think that rounds 3 to 5 has so many interesting players in them. I hate to lose the pick. Plus it will weaken our ability to move around in the Draft. Getting a solid proven CB and a good developemental C B is there this year. Still undecided.

I like it because it gives a starter from Day One of camp, and gives us flexibility in the draft. I thought that our potential 4th round pick will start this year

Plus, who knows how the top 8 DB's will pan out? They could all be gone by the middle of the second round, or someone like Hughes might still be around, and he might end up being the second or third best. This move minimizes our risk.

Any idea how much he'll cost? $1.4 million or so is my guess. He'll will sign anything over the low ball the Colts offered, so it's just a matter of what they'll spend to keep him.

He's not Champ Bailey or anything, but if they can sign him for a reasonable price, I think it's a good move. He's 24 and proven, but just as importantly, HE HAS A RING! The offseason themes seem to be character guys and Superbowl experience. That certainly workout for the Pats.

Saints | Team negotiating with J. David
Mon, 16 Apr 2007 09:36:44 -0700

Updating a previous item, John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports the New Orleans Saints have begun to negotiate and lay the parameters on a possible contract with free-agent CB Jason David (Colts). The team, however, has not made a formal contract offer at this point.

Those draft players may be "interesting', but David has NFL experience, SB ring, and it's ony 2 years older than most players in the draft. He's still learning, but knows enough to start today. I'm not saying he's great, only that at least we know what he can do in the pros. I don't see the issue with giving the pick for him.

Yep - you got in one......................... especially we do have a BIG problem at CB

I'm a little weary about those Tampa 2 corners just like I am about Tampa 2 linebackers. A lot of times they just don't fit in other schemes.
