Re: Pierre Thomas Fan
Thomas is defintely a keeper. I don't know how you can cut that kid with his performance so far in PS.

Re: Pierre Thomas Fan
good god I hope none of them troll this site (lol) Is PT that good? or were we just moving the ball at will and a vol from the crowd could have done that.
The Sirus Radio guys thought Stecker over Pittman. I know I am not smart enough to make such a pick. I like stecker - I hope he makes it on to another squad if we can't keep him. Hell, we can't have all the toys. So were we really that good or was KC just plain awful? |

I agree with the earlier post that we keep the rookies and cut Stecker. It's more likely that Stecker would be available later in the season if needed as compared to trying to waive either Pittman or Thomas. It seems to me that Pittman can backup the Deuce role in the offense while Thomas can backup Reggie's role. Both would have to play special teams to make the squad.
Our offense looks ready to rock. Brees looks like an MVP. Reggie clearly has gotten the feel of running downhill at NFL speed. I just saw the replay of the game and realized that if Payton were serious in the red zone and had all of his weapons out there, that it would have been 35-0 by halftime. Our defense isn't dominating. But our offense is. I don't think the defense needs to be top 5 for the team to be successful. They just have to slow opposing offenses down enough to get off the field. It's easy to do with KC. Indy will be much tougher. But I severely doubt that the Saints will actually encounter an offense that top to bottom is better than our offense. So if the defense only gives up an average number of big plays (instead of an exceptional number like last year), gives up an average number of YPG, and gets an average number of turnovers, then the offense will have opportunities to win the game. I think Stecker is as good as gone and Thomas would make a nice addition if we were going to keep 4 running backs... but I don't think that's going to happen. Hopefully he'll land on our practice squad and we could use him like we've used Branch the past couple of seasons. But you never know... he could be the next Willie Parker. Too bad it won't be here. |

Re: Pierre Thomas Fan
Stecker will make the team, he's way too valuable as a third down back. Pittman in every game has missed his blocking assignments and got the QB killed. It's really wishful thanking to keep both Pittman and Thomas, but we all know teams generally don't cut their draft picks 1 - 5. So that might mean Thomas is the odd man out, now it specks volumes that he haven't been cut yet, and where's Jamal Branch? I think Thomas has Coach Payton attention and like I said before, this is going to be one of the hardest cuts a Saints coaching staff ever had to make. GOOD LUCK Payton, I'm glad I don't have to make those cuts.
