this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; this game actually went the opposite of the way i thought... but brees is still choking imo when he needs to step up..... yes, he can bring us right down the field, but getting in the endzone is the problem. ...

suck it up and move on.....

but brees is still choking imo when he needs to step up..... yes, he can bring us right down the field, but getting in the endzone is the problem. i'll put some of the blame on payton, but i hold brees responsible as the leader... it's only one game, and now i look to tampa..... garcia is no slouch. but i look for better defensive scheming with brees shedding some of the rust to overcome the bucks. we go 1-1 with a killer schedule to go..........smitty |

Let's hope the organisation does just that ssmitty; takes it's medicine and uses the game as a huge wake-up call.
Still, after seven months of anticipation, a pantsing like that hurts...big-time. Bring on the Bucs, and let's hope Coach Payton remembers what Deuce is capable of. Under-utilised...again. |

The look on Brees' face say it all, last night was the first time I think I ever say a stunned and discussed look on his face..
He needs to step up next week and show his team that he's still the leader of his team... He also might want to talk with Jason David in private, some one will have to.. |

They'll play better next week. Count on it. Coach will be tearing new a***oles at the team meetings today. And it's exactly what they need.
I never expected to beat the Colts anyway. But I -did- think our offense would at show up at the game. I was wrong. The offense didn't even bother to take the plane to Indy. Coach will not be happy. They're going to get an earful. |

Re: suck it up and move on.....
We could've brought our A game last night and still lost - Manning was on fire and those long passes to Wayne and Harrison were perfect. At least the first half of the game was competitive. I think Payton and the team will need to look at that putrid second half and learn from their mistakes.
We needed to get more pressure/sacks to have a chance in this game. Anyone else notice there was a LOT of offensive holding, on both sides, that wasn't called last night? |

Re: suck it up and move on.....
Agreed, we need to accept the fact that we were totally embarrassed on National television. We need to embrace the fact that we looked like we didn't belong on the same field with the Colts. When you stink up the place, you should be man enough to admit it.
For my part, I am not panicked yet. It was the first game, and I think our team has been drinking the national-press kool-aid. You don't win football games because you're predicted to or because you are the darlings of the media. You win it because you want it more than the other guy. We didn't play hard at all last night. Hopefully, this will wake our team up and restore that desire I saw last year. |

Re: suck it up and move on.....
we were beaten in every aspect of the game. Maybe our return game was the most repectable of all the groups but man if other teams want to know how to stop us, here's the tape. Only the first game but after 5 pre-season warm-ups and the chemistry from last year more was expected. 1st game or not it showed that mentally and competitavly we were not ready. Not the mark of a super bowl team.
