I am not bashing the so much a b-slapping the fans. All this hype about the super bowl and stuff has been to much. Wins in the NFC does not count. We did not beat one of the elite AFC teams last year. Till then I do not believe we are there. We are 0-1 against being an elite team in the nfl this year. The division title counts but it does not make us a great team. Good yes, great no. We still have a long way to go

Also it's painfully obvious that we do not yet have championship caliber defense yet. I wasn't one of my expectations. The final problem with the AFC is that the next time we see an elite AFC team will either be in Arizona or sometime next season. Elite AFC teams play each other each and every year because all the AFC #1's play one another each year. We simply don't get that opportunity. So work with what you've got. Beat the best of the NFC and keep trying to figure out the AFC. That's what Philly, Chicago, Seattle, and other top level NFC teams have been trying to figure out for years. Just keep plugging. We definitely need to get away from all the man to man defense if we're not going to truly address the cornerback issue. We need to also address the defensive tackle position. Addai was chomping at the bit everytime he touched the ball, no fear = lots of yards. Coach Payton needs to stop all the flashy bull**** with Bush. He is part of the team, not the savior. Hell Brees isn't even the savior anymore, not after that bull****. Brees needs to either throw the ball away or to the receiver, not intentionally throw it to the opposing team. Which is exactly what it looked like he was doing. Payton needs to remember what worked for us last year and not change it until it doesn't work. Sometimes we try to out think people before they do it to us and it backfires and in this case the entire team was on fire on the sidelines. How could you not go for it on 4th down knowing it could change the game? How could you not drive the ball down their throats on the first drive of the second half knowing it could change the game? How could you not change the gameplan at halftime knowing it didn't work in the first half and could change the entire game? YOUR STUPID EGO GOT IN THE WAY, THAT'S WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if anyone has notice the pattern of S.P. it started in the NFC champ. game where he refuse to run the ball. Throwing the ball around the yard is fine once you establish the run. If you go back to young peyton manning when they threw the ball all over the place never one the big games. Until they thought run first then play action. We were playing one of the worst rush def. in the league. I'm just saying once it's ok twice it's a pattern. It's called football run the damn ball.

We are a good club but we are not there. I sit in Boston and have all these Pats fans around me and have learned a lot from the Pats on how to build a winner. So I am very critical, maybe to much so, of the moves we make. It does take time. So soon we better invest in the defense with good picks. We are not going to do it with the "one year contract plug and patch" idea we are doing now on defense. i know it is only year 2, but this draft yielded little, yet, that will get us over the top and put us in the league of the top 5 teams in the NFL. Bit the bullet and get these young players some quality playing time for next year. If the trade rumors are true about Freddie T then I am really skeptical about cutting any young CB. Now you got Rob? If they just think he is not healthy enough option I can live with it. But if it is some kind of cute move on the waiver wire it was stupid. Like picks 4 and 5 this year. Till we stop the spankings I am looking for more changes to get there. I am waiting to see what the heck we are doing. Like I said we are not an elite team in the NFL and that is because of the defense. So I have to worry. I want us there for at least 10 years. Knocking on the door is nice but I want to join the party. I agreed with you Cher. |
