this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Look, I'm not trying to sugar coat anything. We look bad, ok? Just... giving up on the whole freakin' season after 2-games just doesn't seem reasonable to me. That's why they play 16-games....

Re: Wide Out
It`s hard to say how much impact losing Horn has had on the team, but from a talent standpoint, we were winning last year when he was on the sideline, and today with Atlanta I think he had 1 catch.
I`m not going to make excuses for the defense giving up big plays, but I will cut the defense some slack. When the offense is going 3 and out, turning the ball over, and leaving opponents in great field position, I can`t really hang the L around the neck of the defense. I see 2 problems with the offense; 1) The play calling is vanilla. Where`s those reverse plays we ran with success last year?, that screen to Bush in the flat with blockers? hitting Colston in stride across the middle, .. etc.. etc.. the offensive plays so far this season is not fooling anyone. It appears the offense is not trying to call money-maker plays, but rather it seems the goal is to set up a 3rd and short. 2) OL and the run blocking (except Karney) is HORRIBLE. You can tell Brees is not comfortable in the pocket, he`s being hurried, and passes are being batted down and his passes lack touch. All because of poor blocking. Well, that`s my 2 cents worth. |

Re: Wide Out
They were winning last year with Joe hurt, so it can't be that.

Re: Wide Out
Damn the morale around here sucks. It's a tough division and we played one really good team... and another team that's really tough at home. It's not like we got beat by Derek Anderson and the Browns.
Our schedule looks really tough for the first 8 games. If we can manage to hover around .500, I really believe we're going to string together 3 or 4 wins towards the end of the year. We'll be okay... and I think we'll finish 9-7 with either a division title or wildcard berth. |

Re: Wide Out
Moore should be starting. He's earned it as much as Colston earned it last year.

Re: Wide Out
I think wr is a problem. It is important to sustain drives, it is important to catch the ball and keep the defense off the field. It would do wonders for the confidence of the offense to get back on track and they will be explosive.
