this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; just heard on the news it looks like Mike Vanderjact may be our new kicker. Kind of surprising since another news channel was quoted as saying he was a "long shot" At least the f.o and coaches are not wasting ...

Re: Vanderjact
If they do sign him, at least we don't know what he'll do or what success he'll have. We do, however , know what Mare will do.............MISS!

Re: Vanderjact
Every decent kicker has a shot in our camp. If he shows up and is consistently putting them through, he may have himself a new job. Mare has made us thankful for the little things - like 3's. I had gotten burned out on 3's under Mora (Mortan Anderson hardly ever missed). What I wouldn't do for some 3's right now! Most kickers have good/bad days, and go into slumps. Mare is in a terrrrrrrrible slump, and he's hurt, and we can't wait for him to get out or get better. "You never know what your going to get with a box of chocolates..." I hope the new box is sweet.

Re: Vanderjact
The only thing i'll miss is his ability to kick it out of the end zone. I think that was the big thing about him anyway.
we need all the field position help we can get. |

Re: Vanderjact
I've got a couple of thoughts here:
1. Vanderjagt got cut because he was so terrible didn't he? 2. If anybody was at the game, hear me out, if we had asked that guy who won the field goal contest before the game to suit up, we would have won last Sunday. 3. I haven't seen Mare kicking balls out of the back of the end zone, so please, let's stop giving him credit for anything but sucks . |

Re: Vanderjact
Vandy was the MAN among boys for a while as far as kickers go.
If we did happen to sign him, lets give him a try and see if he can't regain some of his old form. I don't see how it could hurt - anything is an improvement at this point over Mare. |
