Re: Saints run defense.....
I tend to think that those numbers are off for one good reason. You come out against the Saints and you throw the ball. Our pass D has sucked so bad that the best way to score on is is pass. You score enough points and take a commanding lead against the Saints that you force the Saints out of a running game and into the come from behind passing-mode.
The one difference you will notice is that against the Panthers the Saints came out throwing and agressive trying not to allow the Pahters to get up on us by a lot of points early. That would have force the ball into Carr's hands and let him try and beat us. -which obvious never happened. |

Re: Saints run defense.....
I disagree Euphoria. The attempts to run the ball are there, which proves that the stops were also there. It would be different if run attempts were down to 10 -15, but both quotes show the last two teams tried to run the ball approx. 30 times, and both were kept under 100. Not bad - in fact I will pay closer attention to run stops this week in Seattle. I've been looking for something positive. Those numbers are not a bad start.

Re: Saints run defense.....
Thats fine... if you disagree. I said tend to... like leaning towards a stance but not comitting one way or the other yet.
What I am leaning towards just to clarify though is that more teams are exposing our pass defense (which would mean possible less yards on running plays and attempts). Even attempts can be missleading if you make more first downs you get MORE ATTEMPTS. To prove my point is that we have also given up 8 TD passing this qrt of the season which would put us on pace to top last years 28. Boasting our Run defense is much improved which arguable its not by much... is one of those stat things and I have to agree... "stats are for losers". |

I thought Foster was going to have a decent game going against the Saints, not to be, great job up front..
IMO that game was a BIG plus for our defense. |
