this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; "In the pile Reggie was in, I rreally don't think there's anyway a ref could have made the judgment that was made." Exactly my sentiments, JS. No way could that idiot ref see in that scrum to make the call....

Re: The Phantom Fumble
That kind of play takes the wind out of your sails. For us it is usually more devastating because we don't bounce back very well. One bungle seems to lead to another and another. Games should be decided totally by the play on the field and not by the decisions of the oversight committee.

Re: The Phantom Fumble
Something about that head official. When I saw him at the start of the game I knew there would be some questionable calls. I thought we would end up with 20 holding penalties or something. I think the fact it looks like he spends to much time practing the hand motions for calling penalties that he feels he has to call alot of penalties to show how good he is at them.

Re: The Phantom Fumble
One other thing if the refs have to confer after a play like that they should side on the offenses side. Unless one ref comes in signaling a fumble and is sure he saw it happen they should not talk about it concluding the defense is holding the ball so it must be a fumble. If no ref saw a fumble call the play down by contact and let the defense challenge if they see it on the jumbotron. It was inconclusive so lets assume it was a fumble and penalize the offense. We had the ball and it should have to be proven we lost it not the other way it might have been a fumble and the offense has to prove it wasnt.
