Pickin through the trash can...
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Dolphins cut Green, Booker, 2 other starters
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Panthers release Morgan, Wahle Miami and Carolina made some roster moves. Anyone interested in any of the released players? Does necessarily have to be limited to those two teams. Maybe Marty Booker would be worth looking at as a reserve, possibly L.J. Shelton. Dan Morgan would fill a need, but that poor guy cannot stay on the field. Any thoughts? |

Re: Pickin through the trash can...
I'd say Traylor first, Shelton 2nd, pass on the others and the Panthers
Everyone (us included) needs to watch Parcells. He did not take that job to watch a lot of re-treads and "prospects". I think he will go after 3, maybe even 4 impact FA's. If the Saints are looking at anyone seriously, they are going to have to contend with the Dolphins to get him. |

I'll take Dan Morgan for the veteran minimum. If he stays healthy (big if), he's an impact player.

I meant to say "Does not necessarily have to be limited to those two teams". Sorry guys...
Yes, Dan Morgan could be a stud for the Saints, I too would tempted to risk a minimum salary for a season. Those injuries just scare me to much. Last years injury is not a big concern, I am really spooked that he missed so much time in 2006 with a concussion. |

You Can't sign Dan Morgan......how many concussion has he had. Great talent but not worth the risk.

If these two teams cut someone from there roster, do we really want them??????
That's like a Patriot fan saying, "Hey the Saints cut Jason David, Mark Simenogood, Fred Taylor and Orlindo Mare. Who do we need to pick up?" |

Re: Pickin through the trash can...
I'd take L.J. Shelton. That would give us great depth at the tackle position, and he's not really that old, just 31. I agree with QBREES, you can't take Dan Morgan, that guy's going to die on somebody's field one of these days, and I'd like it not to be on ours.

Re: Pickin through the trash can...
I'd sign him with an incentive based contract (Morgan). Traylor is old like Hollis so I'd pass on him. Give Morgan one of those padded helmet tops.

Dan Morgan
This would be a good and cheap sign do to health problems. He would be a great addition as a bachup/situation middlebacker. Plus with ties to miami he would be close to home. Depending on the money he wants he might be a good gamble to go with. What do you guys think it has got to be better than Simoneau but i would sign Simoneau also if the price was right.

Re: Pickin through the trash can...
The title says it all: Picking through the trash.
My brother called me today talking about these guys. I observed to him that the Saints organization isn't yet savvy enough to work with marginal players. It seems to me they haven't learned yet how to integrate (or in fact even identify) good talent and how to utilize it. So my answer is no to all the defensive players. The only defensive players the Saints should be considering are absolute lock studs. Then there will be no question to if they will play, if they will have an impact, or if they can help in overcoming readily apparent lapses in both scheme and coaching. On the offensive side, Green may work as a backup. He has proven he can play in this league when protected and the Saints line has proven they can protect the QB, as evidenced by Brees' league low 15 sacks last year. Pay the guy the minimum and give him a clipboard. Then we can stop talking about Martin's credentials. SFIAH |
