One Last Desperation Resort (Regarding CB situation) !!
There's always D. Hall..
I think it will take a 1st or 2nd round pick to get him traded tho.. Hall, who is owed $4.2 million next season, said his desire to leave the Falcons is not about money. He did want to have his contract extended, but he said that he recently told the Falcons that he would play out his final year if the team promised not to apply the franchise tag following the season. That tag would limit Hall's ability to negotiate with other teams should he become a free agent. Hall said the team declined. He said that any team interested in acquiring him would not have to re-do his contract before a trade is consummated. So basically that's good news and Atlanta will most likely deal him before the draft or on draft day.. Will be interesting to see how it shapes out.. |

Re: One Last Desperation Resort (Regarding CB situation
I've never been a Hall fan, however he is a proven vet and we reaaaallly need to address the db situation..
I think it'd be tight if we gave them our 1st and 3rd for hall and received Hall along with their 2nd round pick.. that way we have 2 early picks in the second round.. i doubt but this but something similar.. I mean heck 4.2 million for a pretty good corner is a bargain right now! I don't care if its for 1 year. This could very well be what the Saints may be planning? |

Agreed. Step back in the first few rounds and grab a CB or two and we should be fine. Other teams have done it and it has worked out ok, As for what is left on the market I say let the price drop first. We took our gamble at LB so let us now bet smarter from here on out. We have more than one player of our own to sign that will cost us some big bucks.

Re: One Last Desperation Resort (Regarding CB situation
i disagree....hall is not worth our 10th overall pick nor the second......we could get keith rivers, sedric ellis or glend dorsey with that pick and either one would instantly start and give the New Orleans Saints a solid front seven for at least 3-5 years.....and with the second pick at least one or two of the top cb's in the draft will be avail brandon flowers or atoine cason both fit the New Orleans Saints scheme......as for hall.....he a excellent cb..but he is not worth a 1 or 2 pick..maybe 3. they are not gonna give those picks away for a 1yr deal....that would be insane...

Re: One Last Desperation Resort (Regarding CB situation
For all those who don't think ATL would trade in their own division.. well I think they'd consider it when we hold the 10th overall pick and they could possibly get both McFadden or Mendenhall to go along with Matt Ryan.. I think they'd be willing.. I mean they are going to lose D Hall next season any ways.. Why not start the rebuilding? Works out great for both teams. because NO would only have to pay 4.2$ million for a top 5 corner in the league to fix a glaring hole. (so what if it is for a single year!).. then we wouldn't have to OVERPAY some rookie that we reached out at pick 10..
this really saves us money and develop a possible corner taking early in the 2nd round.. |

some don't think cromartie will last to the 2nd round.. i like rivers in the first and cromartie but i doubt he last to the 10 spot in the 2nd round..

Re: One Last Desperation Resort (Regarding CB situation
not many rookie cbs make an impact right away.. i mean look how high we were on chris houston last year.. and what did he do for atlanta.??
linebackers taken early DO PRODUCE with immediate impact which is why i like rivers.. and i only like cromartie because he is an absolute freakish athlete.. i know flowers is good and some of the other cbs.. but still they are not going to solve how AWFUL the cornerback situation is.. its really scary to know jason david as of right now is the number 1 starter because McKenzie will be out for some time.. |
