this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I would have liked to add Bryant Johnson, but maybe his price is too high (after the Vikings overpaid Berrian)....

Its good. I actually like Dev Hend coming back.. He is a deep threat.. but the only guy I am not too fond of is Copper..

Re: Good or Bad? All of our Receivers Return.
After being the 1st ranked passing team in '06 followed by the 2nd ranked passing team in '07 I think it makes sense to resign our wr. Not to fond of Henderson but as a #3 or 4 there is less balls his way to drop.
I am more excited about signing our offensive players than resigning our defensive players. Again we were the 4th ranked offense and near the bottom defensively so if there was a area we needed a new direction and players it should be on the defensive side. |

Re: Good or Bad? All of our Receivers Return.
All our hopes rest on Mech's shoulders next year. if we go with this group he is key. I want a WR in the draft that can play the slot.
Andre Caldwell, WR, Florida in the third. But not at the cost of passing on Justin King, CB, Penn State he is the CB in the draft that will, in two years of coaching, become one of the solid Cb in the draft. So in the fourth I am looking at William Franklin, WR, Missouri Who i think is a major sleep in the draft. |

Re: Good or Bad? All of our Receivers Return.
Will Robert Meachem make an impact this year? Yes.
Will he upstage Colston? Not unless _everyone_ doubles Colston. Has David Patten lost a step and can he be effective in the slot? He has NOT lost a step. Does Reggie Bush line up as a WR on certain plays? I think he will. How does Copper get on the field? on offense? 5 WR sets. Will Devery Henderson catch a cold? I think so! If Meachem doesn't start this year, can last years draft be considered a complete bust? not at all. Does Reggie Bush hit the line before it hits him? yes. Does he need to touch the ball even more in the receiving game or can he be effective between the tackles? both. |

Re: Good or Bad? All of our Receivers Return.
I would not be surprised to see the saints draft a WR as high as the third.
Andre Caldwell, WR, Florida I am really liking this kid as a slot. He plays the middle and knows how to block. William Franklin, WR, Missouri in the fourth is a nice option Harry Douglas, WR, Louisville in the fifth is also good So I am not so sure anyone is safe at 3, 4 or 5 at WR. None of them were that impressive in any role they played on the team. All can be replaced. Patton is safest because of veteran leadership. If we keep him the the slot he will have a great year for us but he needs rotation. |

Re: Good or Bad? All of our Receivers Return.
If Meachem doesn't step up, the Saints don't have a legit #2 WR. I would love for Nelson to somehow slip to the 3rd. But, without a fourth, the Saints need to get a combination of CB, DT and S or ROLB in the first three rounds.
