FORGOTTEN MAN: Skyler Green
PLAYER PROFILE
Skyler Green was born and raised in New Orleans having played football in Louisiana his whole life. Finally he comes home to excite the fans of Louisiana once again. Green had a remarkable high school career at L.W. Higgins High School, (Marrero LA) playing QB where during his senior year, he rushed for 2,174 yards on 194 carries. Many of these games were shown on TV locally, and I quickly became a fan. The kid was amazing. Everyone thought he'd go on to have a great college career. Having chosen to stay home, Green opted to play for LSU and in four seasons he caught 111 passes for 1,129 yards and nine touchdowns. LSU had some great receivers during Green's time at LSU so he was usually the 3 or 4 receiver. Still, he managed to make a name for himself. In 2005, Green was the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Year where he averaged 13.3 yards on 27 returns with one TD. He lead the nation with an 18.5-yard average as a sophomore 2004. Scout.com: How He Fits In Dallas: WR Skyler Green Green was selected in the fourth round (125th overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2006 NFL Draft. Green is a short, compact return specialist who established an LSU record with four returns for touchdowns. While not a sprinter in the purest sense, he has extraordinary acceleration, hitting his top speed in just a few steps, allowing him to get separation from would-be tacklers. Remember, this home town boy is coming home again and has everything to play for while he fufills his boyhood dream of playing for the Saints. I trust he will become our top return man. In any case, we should see alot of him in preseason. This is his 3th season and hopefully the light will go on like a beacon. It should be a thrill to see this local talent once again. So many locally will be pulling for him. I certain he won't let us down. What do you think the chances of Skyler Green making it as our primary return man this year or WR? Do you have any other thoughts of other return men you would like to see? Should Reggie still be our return man? Is Green a luxury we cannot afford to keep? WR Skyler Green - New Orleans Saints - 3rd season Height: 5-9 Weight: 190 Age: 23 - Speed: 4.5 Born: 9/12/1984 Houma , LA College: Louisiana State, High School: L.W. Higgins HS [Marrero, LA] |

Could careless about the hometown connection. If he makes it he makes it. If not he gets thrown to the curb with all the other rejects.
I was never a big fan of him coming out of college. His hands are not all that great. As a WR or KR. he is nothing more than another Donte or Henderson. He has a lot to prove. |

Re: FORGOTTEN MAN: Skyler Green
Hey guys, I just wanted to create a positive article about a local player instead of the countless rehash of DRC or Rivers threads.
Tough crowd here. I guess if he doesn't make it, his pro career is pretty much over. |

Still young... if he doesn't make it, doesn't mean he never will. However there's other avenues these days with the CFL and AFL... he could make a good living there if he doesn't make it in the NFL.

Very nice story good change up from everything else on the board. Skyler just might need to get in the right system.
Work your butt off and make the team. If you don't the pay checks stop coming. How bad do you want it. |

Re: FORGOTTEN MAN: Skyler Green
I hope Skyler does not make the team. The reason I say this is he only makes the team if the Saints have injury issues. Now, if he surprises everyone and has a killer training camp and preseason, he could possibly give Devery Henderson a run for his roster spot. Honestly though, I don't see him beating out any of the six that are coming back from last year.
