Billy I thought I was the ultimate optimist but I was so wrong. I've been a saints homer since they were born but you blow every homer hanky waving fan out of the water.

There has never been another team I supported and backed more since I've been alive but I tell you now I've never been reduced to seeing the saints through rose colored glasses.

Please, stop looking at one year in the past while trying to forecast the future. We all know the saints history and by focusing on one succesful year and relating back to it over and over and over will not prove anything to long long time faithful folks.

Yes A team coached by haz and QB'd by brooks won A playoff game. That is in the past and just as much a fluke occurrence as the saints losing the playoff game with Jim Mora and Bobby Herbert. One year proves zero, notta, nothing. Stop beating us over the head with this falacy.

Relating back to preseason games of years past is way beyond going for a stretch. Now more than ever a teams record from one season means nothing to the next. there is no relation anymore. Please stop this foolishness.

FWtex,

What the hell are you talkng about? I haven\'t said anything about Hasletts playoff win. Look dude, your convinced that the Saints season is over and there is a conspiracy going on with-in the Saints organization.

You know the more I read your post the more I realize it is no hope trying to explain anything to people with your mentality.

You keep right on beleiving what ever in the hell it is you beleive and I\'ll do the same.

FW, You mentioned to BC to stop looking at the past as a indication of the future. Well said and I agree with you 100% there. But...aren\'t you doing the same?? You are as well looking at the past and saying that saints are at the same old stance again...pernial loosers. I know those were not your exact words but the gist of it. The past is in the past good or bad and you are right in saying more bad than good. This season starts in a couple of more weeks not last Monday night. I can recall the Saints loosing all of their preseason games to come out of the starting gate very strong. I have also seen them look very good in preseason games only to start the season looking like chumps.
I guess what I am trying to say is follow your own advice and leave the past in the past and if you are a saints fan...then be one.....................Believe ......This can be the year!

To quote you Coastalkid, \"Well said!\" I agree with FW but in the end we will all hope this is the year and believe because we are Saints fans, that our job. We wouldn\'t still be with them if we weren\'t true fans and like I said in another post, we will all be there on gameday, like a bunch of drunk, screaming fanatics, daring anyone to beat us. It\'s the passion for this team that keeps us bickering amongst ourselves but we are all crazy, demented, Saint\'s fanatics to the end.

Coastal you may have read more into my comment than I wrote. I have never made any referrence to the saints being perrenial losers. I have predicted the saints to have a 12-4 season this year but I base that on the potential of the talent on the team this year. As far as I can remember I have always thought \"this is the year\" before every season. I am a homer.

What chaps me is when some use player and team performance in specific years in the past to make a point about the current team. Sure their are some trends you can look at in regards to a teams constant parts(ie. same ownership, same coaches, same player) over the performance of several years but you can\'t pick one year and ignore the others.

I have not determined this team is going to stink it up and I sure would not say that based on Mondays game. If they play like that for the rest of the preseason then I will go to the doomsday thoughts. Billy, it seems to me that about 800 of your 1000+ post refer back to a season a few years removed from today. Its all your perogative to use that foundation but its tiring to see it so much.

Just as it\'s tiring to me to here YOU and others keep talking all this doomsday stuff, only to back off and say I\'ll give them the benifit of the doubt or whatever your trying to say.

Just because I don\'t think you can look at seasons past and relate it to this year does not mean there is a doomsday theory. Where are you getting this doomsday stuff??? I personally have not seen one post here that has the saints having a loosing season or predicting complete failure.

I do think most us feel the team will not play as well as it could given the talent it has and it is our duty as saints fans to demand the best. This team could go 16-0 with the talent alone.

I don\'t know how many times I have said last year was last year and means nothing this year. The reason I have brought up years past is to try to prove a point that the coaching staff has not done that bad of a job. Not to try to say that because we had success from years past means we will this year!!

\" You do think the team will not play as well as it could given the talent it has\"?? Would you be basing that off years past????? If not, what are you basing that statement off?

Quote from above:

\"Sure their are some trends you can look at in regards to a teams constant parts(ie. same ownership, same coaches, same player) over the performance of several years but you can\'t pick one year and ignore the others. \"

The trend set forth by the current group says they will not play to potential. Personally I do not beleive HAZ is a great coach. I do think he is a serviceable head coach but not one who gives his team an edge by him being on the sidelines.

Across the field this team has players that would start on other teams. With maybe the exception of a linebacker position every starter and several backups on this team would be a starter on another team. The players are here so it has to come down to coaching.
