We draft an OT with this pick and we better start looking for a new coach right now. Answer me this Batman, how many offensive lineman do we need? First year under Payton, we drafted Evans and Strief. Second year, Alleman and Bushrod. Not to mention, you already have a young, all pro in Brown. Seems to me, we could pick up a decent backup OT after June 1st cutdown or trades. To WASTE a #10 pick on an OT when we have one of the worst defense/ secondaries in the league would be just plain ridiculous.

Come on Missile, I said the pick wouldn't be popular (and in my opinion is highly unlikely), but if you really think about it the pick makes a lot of sense. For one we drafted Alleman and Bushrod as projects, while if we drafted Clady or any OT at #10 it would be with the intention to come right in and be plugged into the starting lineup. A future pro bowler perhaps (a lot better than picking up a "decent backup OT after June 1st cutdowns or trades). I'm also pretty positive that Drew Brees likes seeing that the FO is investing money in a solid OL. And lets face it no matter who we draft on Defense our team still lives and dies with Drew Brees.

I agree with you about the poor defense/secondary play. I was as pissed off as any of you. But I feel that CB/LB is a deep position in this years draft and good players can be found in the later rounds. None of these CBs that are being mentioned are sure things by any means.

Oh by the way, I picked Rivers in the SportsNation poll, so chill out, I apparently would draft a defensive player too.

actually i think it makes plenty of sense.. Clady has the talent and experience to come in an play right away at LT allowing the saints to move jammal brown back to his natural position at RT. Brown has always been uncomfortable at LT, even in his probowl year but he really struggled last year for what reason i dont know.. an injury maybe.. im not sure.. but he had problems, getting multiple false start calls at critical times.. and u could just see it coming too.. the saints would be moving down the field.. there goes the whistle. false start #70..

and stinch.. well that dude hasnt really done anything since hes been in the league.. didnt play the first 2 seasons.. then finally gets in and plays descent.. his run blocking is pretty horrible though and brees is always being pressured from his side.. i can only say that he has the talent of a backup and thats what he should be...

now im not saying that Clady will be a beast but he will be able to play right away, which you cant say for all the corners and it will help our offense

yes i know we have a good offense and we score alot of points but you cant be complacent where we are at on offense either.... theres always room for improvement on both sides on the ball and adding a real LT will make our good offensive line even better giving brees even more time and allowing him to be the accurate passer that he is...

Re: SportsNation NFL Mock Draft

wow.. did u even read my post...

yes brown is uncomfortable at LT.. he even said so himself... and yes he went to a probowl.. and it is my belief that he was voted in b/c our offense was in beastmode in 2006 and he got the benefit of that...

Wasting a #10 pick on a kid who might not play for two years and then be a free agent after his 3rd, possibly fourth season just doesn't make sense to me.
this right here shows me u dont know much about what u are talking about...
first round picks generally sign 6-7 year deals...

btw, Clady played for who? Boise State? Not really stoked about letting a guy who has virtually played against noone protect our franchise qb's backside
yea b/c every great NFL player came from a big time college... wow..

You're going to take a top 10 pick on a OT he damn well better be a franchise type OT and Clady is certainly not that
and you know this b/c he played at boise st.? oh wait.. maybe its cuz he isnt projected to be in the top 5? please... 30 NFL teams attended the Boise St Pro day to check him out, and he turned in arguably the best OT workout so far this year... but he isnt a franchise left tackle, according to you.. maybe its cuz ur a scout.. who knew?!!?

How would taking him be a wasted pick? Games are won in the trenches and the kid may turn out to solve your RT position for 10+ years.
