this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Randy Moss at Marshall must of played some seriously elite competition... right? No. But he had freakish ability along with tremendous size = 1st round draft pick.. Cromartie-Rodgers is no different....

Re: Cromartie?
While the corner class is very deep.. I don't agree with taking any corner in the first round, however DRC is such a freak his upside is tremendous.
ALSO, You may be right that no one heard of him until the Senior Bowl.. but there's nothing wrong with that. It got him on the map for us to research about him.. THEN RAVE about him. If anything you are the ones who talk about him like you know him. That because he went to a small school you immediately dismiss him. Lucky for us no one had heard of Meachem and he didn't have a show stopping senior bowl to get his name on the map.. or else he'd of been a shocking 1st round pick as well. Think ABOUT IT THIS WAY.. The kid was excellent enough in college to be invited to 2 NCAA All Star games. |

Re: Cromartie?
This kid isn't overrated. In my eyes he's our 3rd best option behind Ellis and McKelvin.
Everyone is so concerned about the Saints past draft miscues. The comparisons are unwarranted. The guys we have making decisions now aren't the same as the ones responsible for our past debacles (and that's putting it mildly). Might they make some new mistakes? Sure, but I have confidence in their abilities to evaluate talent, character and desire. |

Re: Cromartie?
It isn't just DRC..It's the entire first round after the 7th or so pick.. Every team is in the "We are kinda reaching" deal.. Ellis won't be there. I don't mind drafting Rivers but if none of those 2 then I would love to see the saints get DRC. Regardles of the fact it is pick 10.
The funny thing is the only stuff bad you can come up with against him is his level of competition in college.. which basing off of level of competition is the only OVERRATED thing about this whole situation.. And he isn't benefitting anything from his last name.. but from his play. He got invited to both all star games with Rodgers on the back of his jersey. |

Re: Cromartie?
There was a reason Moss played at Marshall.
Yeah and the reason DRC went to Tenn State is because he didn't even play organized football until his SENIOR season in HS. His family was in the military and he went to 4 different high schools all 4 years.. |

Re: Cromartie?
The fact that he didn't play organized football until his senior season doesn't concern you a little? It's obvious that you really believe in DRC and you're making a case for the guy, I respect that. I've been reading you're posts about him and you've brought up so good points. Maybe some people would see that too if they weren't so worried about trying to make people look bad on a freaking message board. Low lifes.
