Saints Running Backs
The Saints RB backs next year are looking to be good if deuce can come back healthy for next year. even if hes not healthy for the start of the season we would still have Reggie and Pierre Thomas could slipt the load and let Stecker handle the third downs. And when deuce does get healthy enough they can use him for like goal line sets are short yards set just let him pound it up in there for the needed yards. and he would still have Mike Karney blocking for him. And they still have Jammal Branch on there roster as a running back not saying that branch is going to play but the Saints have lots of depth at RB.

I've always liked Jammal Branch.
I thought he was the PT of 2006. |

April 15 will tell alot. If Mendenhall is there at 10 do you take him. If we don't resign Deuce.

Re: Saints Running Backs
Are you kidding me?
We had Reggie and PT all of last season and nothing happened. Jamal Branch is on the Practice Squad for a reason. Possible fill in for a quarter or two. Sorry, Not sold on Aaron Stecker. Good spec. teamer and some situational value, just can't be used most downs. No speed. I would feel much more comfortable with PT, Reggie, Deuce on the mend for 10-12 carries/gm. and a good, solid rookie with attributes similar to Deuce a/k/a Matt Forte, or even the kid out of SC that is 6'1" 220 that just ran a 4.3-4.4 40 at his pro day- he could be had in the 3rd maybe 5th. Kevin Smith 3rd, etc. |

Re: Saints Running Backs
I don't think many cared for my opinion on our RB situation. Though it may not be our top concern, I think Mendenhall is the safest pick at 10. I'm looking at the value of the pick in terms of BPA and LONG TERM need of this team. I'm not sold on our RB corp, but if we don't take Mendenhall Ill be ok with it. If we pass on him though, Id love to see us try and pick up Ray Rice in the mid to late rounds.

Re: Saints Running Backs
Got a message that I'm a Deuce hater...Here's the thing...
Deuce is one of my personal five favorite Saints of all time (Manning, Mills, Morten, Deuce, and Turley/Brock tied at 5th)... But even though I cried when it happened (last time I could remember crying actually, about anything), I was glad to see Archie leave so he'd stop taking some of the beatings (special place in Hell for John Mecom) he'd taking over the years... Deuce has been a team player, community leader, and remarkable player; but even so, a NFL RB, especially with the injuries he's sustained, can perform at an effective level so far; bad luck, yeah, but so happened to Archie as well, that doesn't mean I don't love the guy for what he's done for Saints Fans and New Orleans as well... The soap box is breaking under the weight of my fat ass, so I'll get off now...don't confuse objectivity with passion... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
