The coaches must be awfully optimistic about the guys in back if this Brown offer is for real. That's encouraging.
OK, show me. I'm game for it. Pull the trigger. |

Yeah, I am for it. Pull the tigger. We got some developing OL that could be good or adequate replacements, IMO.
I think the Rams would be crazy not to take the offer but I don't think we are going to know until tomorrow morning. |

I don't see Brown going anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised to see us stand pat and take Clady or Albert (preferrably Clady) and shift Brown back to RT. Unless Dorsey drops past 3, I cannot see us landing him. We need to talk to the Chiefs as they're the logical trading partner for us. We should be able to land Ellis at 5 if we want him that badly. The Chiefs should still be able to land a stud tackle at 10.

Go with the #1 guy on the board. Its good to see the Saints haven't given up and seriously pursing this. Ya know this is setting the Saints up to get Shockey in the second round. To much imo but hey we can call it a day and I can get on to a concert in San Diego. LOL. |

Re: Saints Offer J. Brown for #2 update on pg 19!!!
I see people write about how our front office knows what they're doing, so we must have a replacement for Brown standing in the wings. Why doesn't this same argument apply last year? If we had guy who was ready to replace Brown, why isn't he our starter? After all the front office knows what they're doing, right? But no, last year there was no one who could compete for the LT spot. It was Brown's. End of story.
Now we have a replacement (not sure who, but it must be so), so Brown is expendable. Heck LT is not even that important, you can scheme-block and make up for poor play according to one write-up. The pass rushing DEs who play against the LT all have poor stats because it's so easy to "scheme-block" against them, right? I'll say this. I don't think it would be the end of the world if we traded Brown. Brees is good at getting rid of the ball quickly, though he's not especially mobile. I will also say that I am worried about over-paying for Dorsey. There are no "sure thing" players in the draft. Passing out proven players along with our few draft picks is starting to get into the "Ricky Williams" bargain-realm. Brown and a third (a second would be a reach, imo) would be livable, but I fear we may see Brown and our first. |

That would be a big blunder if a deal like such were to happen.

Re: Saints Offer J. Brown for #2 update on pg 19!!!
The offer is Brown & the #10 from what I'm told. As for the "why didn't Brown get replaced last year" question....think about it. You have a guy at LT who was a 1st round pick (Brown) making 1st round pick money. You make hime earn his money. Then...you have a guy who was picked on the second day (Strief). Brown started & earned his money (barely). I'm sorry, but I have never thought Brown was as good as hyped. If we get the Rams to deal on Brown & the #10, I still think our FO did fine.

Re: Saints Offer J. Brown for #2 update on pg 19!!!
Steep price for an unproven defensive tackle no matter how much I like him... not to mention the money it's going to take to sign him. I wouldn't even consider such a deal... but that's just me.
This is just a rumored report anyways... I'm sure everyone is blowing smoke up each others blow hole. |

Re: Saints Offer J. Brown for #2 update on pg 19!!!
I am all for a trade to go and get Glenn Dorsey, even though I'm not sure if giving #10 and Brown is a good idea. I've like the consistency of our line over the past two seasons, and losing two guys in one offseason could be very upsetting to the performance of the offense.
However, if the Dorsey deal can't be worked, I think that trading up to the Patriots' spot at #7 would allow us to land Ellis. The Jets will take McFadden if he's there and that should leave Ellis around at #7. The price to move up to #7 isn't that much, especially considering I could see the Patriots wanting to move down, get an extra pick, and take a cornerback. Anyways, that's what I'm thinking. |
