Saints Offer J. Brown for #2 update on pg 19!!!
SAINTS LOOKING TO TRADE UP WITH RAMS?
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 16, 2008, 7:24 p.m. The conventional wisdom around the NFL is that no team wants to trade into the first few picks in the draft because of the exorbitant salaries and signing bonuses that top picks receive. But one team might be looking to buck that conventional wisdom. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Saints have made informal inquiries about what it would take to acquire the Rams’ first-round pick, No. 2 overall. The Saints currently own the 10th overall pick, and under the draft trade chart that has been used for the last two decades, the Saints would have to give up a bounty of draft picks to move from No. 10 to No. 2. But some teams are circulating a new trade chart, and on that chart, a trade of the Saints’ first- and second-round picks for the Rams’ first-round pick would appear reasonable, if possibly a little too favorable to the Saints. If the Saints did make the trade, what would they do with the No. 2 pick? Schefter reports that New Orleans wants one of the draft’s top defensive players, likely LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey or Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston. If the trade doesn’t go through, the Rams could take Dorsey, Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long or possibly pull a surprise and select Arkansas running back Darren McFadden. YEAH!!! |

Re: Saints Trying To Move Up To #2!!!
Just saw this on NFL Total Access, it's towards the middle of the show. If they use it on Dorsey, I'm all for it. If they move up and get Gholston, I'll be checking out early......

At number 2 it has to be Dorsey and no one else. I know it won't be a CB, lol.
I firmly believe if he is the guy then go get him don't wait to see if he falls. You get the player you want, period. |

WOW. Now there is an interesting idea. I would hope that the move would be for Dorsey if we pull it off. I think that Gholston is a freak but think that unless we plan on pulling a trade with Grant or Smith, that would be too much invested in the position. Perhaps they would look at Gholston for a move to LB. They must feel pretty secure with the CB spot if they are going to make a move like this.

Still anything can happen they have to make the deal still. |

This may seem like a steep price, but I am for it.
Dorsey makes a difference in a year that is severely lacking in impact players. We have done well to add depth at LB and CB, so I am not sure who we would take at #40 that is going to come in and play right away anyway. |

my immediate thought was dorsey, my thinking is the same as dberce, if it was anyone else there is no reason they should be talking to the rams, just my opinion.

I am also sick and tired of watching LSU talent go to other teams and see them become NFL legends and we pass on them and suck. Lets get our boys in black and gold for a change, lol. |

Re: Saints Trying To Move Up To #2!!!
I see Will Smith involved in this.
Maybe, our 1st and Will Smith for their #2 pick? We can get some value out of Smith before next season. I'd like to keep our 2nd rounder. We still haven't used last years 1st rounder, so Dorsey Young McCray Grant Fujita Vilma Morgan How's that for a front 7? |

Then you add in a Healthy Vilma, Fujita being himself, and even if Morgan isn't 100% and you have a GREAT FRONT SEVEN. If McKenzie is doing as well as reported, Gay and Young playing the second and third CB's and we could have a top 8-12 Defense with just drafting Dorsey. If Dorsey is their it changes the way other teams can play or DE's and if we throw Grant inside like I think we will all of a sudden our 1 well above average CB and other ok ones become OH SO MUCH BETTER. |
