Re: who was the steal in our draft?
Nicks is a good option for the steal of the draft. But I think Arrington is going to surprise everyone. I think he'll end up beating out Meachum for playing time. He had a huge bowl game against Fla. State. 9 catches for 153 yds and two touchdowns. And to get him in the 7th round, can you say Colston? I do like Nicks though. You don't find too may players that are 6'5" and 341 lbs. If they pair him up with the right lineman, he's liable to make a huge impact. Brown and Evans on one side is solid. The other side is a question mark. Who will man the tackle postion? Will it be Bushrod? Or Stinch? Or will Alleman play guard and Nicks at tackle? It's going to be interesting to see what the Saints do.

Re: who was the steal in our draft?
I watched a lot of film on Nicks because i am a big advocate of getting the best line possible....i love to watch linemen on film....i liked his size and strength...it seemed like he was into it....then as the play went on he tended to quit...he would stop blocking and on more than one occassion his man made the tackle...disappointing but if he does finish then he is a great pickup...i was impressed by arrington but i love michigan so i was very harsh on him....he wasnt quick....he does catch the ball with his hands tho..not his body....you must do that to be an NFL receiver....i am going out on a longshot here.....i think our best draft pick in the second day was....Talor Mehlhaff.....the kicker...yes....the kicker....our kicker position has been a question mark even when carney was our kicker....If he pans out he will score arguably the most points on the team...how is that not a steal?

I could careless about "character", no one is perfect. I hope the drafted players can atleast help the team with depth.

Having said that, young kids that do have good character can make mistakes. The ones with character quit being jerks, and can make it in the NFL. The ones that truly have bad character keep making mistakes, and always bring themselves and their team down. I like all of our picks. I think every one of them have excellent value, save the kicker, whom I believe to have average value. |

I have to say Pressley was the biggest steal in the draft. He also can be a dominant force on defense.

Re: who was the steal in our draft?
Guys and Gals,
Keep your eyes on Luke Sanders out of LSU...yeah I said it...and not just because he is from LSU but because he played defense for the 2nd ranked defense in the country not to mention the SEC. With Ed coaching him the sky is the limit. He has the size and speed and with a little strength conditioning he will be a force on the weak side. If he turns out like i think he will not only make the team...he will start by 2009. Even making a solid back-up out of rookie free agancy is a steal. |

Re: who was the steal in our draft?
I don’t understand the “character issues” that I have been seeing Nicks labeled with. From my understanding there were never any issues until a house he lived in threw a party, and the cops busted it. There is no record of problems before this incident. The guy was a university student. Who didn’t attend a party in university where the cops showed up? I have no issues with his character, and feel that due to the timing of this incident, he got a bad label. However the Saints benefited from this bad label, so I’m still happy with the pick.

Re: who was the steal in our draft?
I agree this is a minor bit even the part were he got involved with the cops. The only thing I see for any NFL team to harp on this is the fact he is married with a three-year-old daughter. He should know better being a father. Well he is 22 years old too.
I think it has more to do with two things: 1) Very raw and has a ways to go when it comes to technique 2) a questionable motor that to me makes more sense |
