2010 - Keep or Cut Reggie Bush.
We have so many players contracts coming up in 2010. Do the Saints keep Bush or is his money better spent on other players. Reggie's roll has been reduced to a 3rd down back and punt returner. He will never be a true #1 back. We all would love if he reworked his contract and that may happen but...
Will the Saints be looted next year and could Reggie's money be better spend on keeping existing players? G Jahri Evans (RFA) RB Pierre Thomas (RFA) LT Jermon Bushrod (RFA) RB Mike Bell (RFA) LB Scott Fujita SS Roman Harper WR Lance Moore FS Darren Sharper LT Jammal Brown DT Kendrick Clancy DT Anthony Hargrove - Not sure if he's a free agent in 2010. Keep Reggie or Not.... |

Who really knows what next year will bring. Uncapped? New agreement between owner/players union? Etc.

Of course spending money on keeping multiple players is better than spending money on one guy. |

Re: 2010 - Keep or Cut Reggie Bush.
The way things are going there won't be a salary cap next season so I don't see how the Saints can't afford to keep all these guys next year. For all the hate Reggie is one of the playmakers on this team. He still gives D Coordinators sleepness nights when its Saints week. Just look to the Giants game, both play pass TDs were fakes to Reggie and the Giants bit on them hard. He might never be an everydown back, he never was at USC so why even try it now, Bell and Thomas are the bruisers in this Offense. As long as he plays his role and helps this team achieve thier goals then I just don't see him going anywhere.
I have my own nightmares, Reggie goes to another team and then blows up into the HOFer that everyone thought he would become, I really could see it happen. |

Re: 2010 - Keep or Cut Reggie Bush.
Its not Reggie giving DC's sleepless nights its brees and the WR's. They can't cover them and can't get to Brees' like they would like. If they are keying on Brees you'd see them cheat the SS or FS more when he is in the line up and they are not. All Bush really does is create a mis-match if you line him up in the back field and then motion him to a slot WR position... a slower LB ends up having to cover him.
The worse thing that could happend to football is being uncapped. There is no way we sign all these players with uncapped season. Benson doesn't have that kind of money... this market doesn't have that kind of money. The deal will get done it has to. No one really wants to see that except teams that can afford it. |

Payton still uses Reggie as a decoy for a reason

DECOY my ass! If anyone has been paying attention Reggie has got less touches of late and used just like anyone else. Of course someone has to cover him... just like someone has to cover Shockey or Colston.
All everyone likes about Reggie is he can add one exciting play a game maybe. Its not good football buisness to keep a high price tag on a player who contributues less than other players. Of the list above there are several players we have to keep over Reggie. Do the math and the money is better spent retaining those players. |

Re: 2010 - Keep or Cut Reggie Bush.
His production doesn't match his salary. About $5 million per year for the top end role player he is is more than fair. If that's not good with him, I wish him well.
