What I miss about this season....

Anybody else feel this way???

What I miss about this season is all the Monday morning moaning and groaning and second guessing. There is nothing to bltch about. Who Dat is all that needs to be said. Any second guessing is just nitpicking.

Don't get me wrong. I'm enjoying experiencing how the Patriots fans must have felt for the past few years. Now I spend a great deal of time checking out other teams fan boards and enjoy seeing their reaction. I have actually talked a little trash.

Still, being a die hard Saints fan, I reserve my right to gripe and a certain part of me miss the threads imparting our wisdom of what could have been.

Well... the Saints are great. We're #1 in the power rankings. Payton is a genius. Williams is a god. Brees is Fed Ex player of the month. Take it one game at a time, Who Dat... Yea... Yea... Yea....

There is a certain part of me that enjoyed playing from behind and being kept on the edge of my seat. I almost wish Monday Nights came was a pick it and not be considered a big upset if we lost. Imagine two teams playing on Monday Night @ 4-2 with the winner leading the division.

There are going to be games this year that remind me of LSU playing Tulane.

I guess I'll just have to learn to deal with the disappointment. After all... if the goal is to win the Superbowl, we're going to need the home field advantage in the playoffs and need to be at least 14-2.

Yes the one on the right is holding a Saints helmet.

I had something to say, but I forgot. All I can think about now is what happens next. Something tells me it doesn't end with Drew taking at knee at the Dallas 4 yard line with 3 minutes to play...

Sitting on the edge of your seat . . . coming from behind? That first quarter and a half almost turned me into a full blown alcoholic. Give the blow outs in the first quarter, my old heart can't take many more like the Miami game.

Re: What I miss about this season....

It's understandable. It's like I told Hokie the other day, we are not used to thinking like this. We are a championship caliber team now and must start thinking that way. No longer are we at the bottom of the barrel and our team is built to simply destroy everyone that comes in our way.

The thing is this team has been adding studs from 2006 and now in 2009 we are seeing them all play together. The result is simple, a dominating team on both sides of the ball. It's time for us as fans to embrace this team and no longer wait for the other shoe to drop. I am so damn fired up about this team this year. WHO DAT!!!!!!!

SUPER BOWL CHAMPS 2009 :)

Re: What I miss about this season....

... I guess there are errors, plays, players, etc. we can nitpick, but I think most of us are way too guiddy about not only winning ball games but the way the Saints are winning ball games:

Detroit - expected blowout, got blowout.
Buffalo - Media going on about Buffalo needing a "statement win" after almost beating the Pats. Spanked them.
Philadelphia - NFC East media darling, great defense, in Philly, Vick, blah blah, blah. Spanked them.
NY Jets - Media darlings, Rex Ryan, great defense, Shanchize, blah, blah, blah. Spanked them.
NY Giants - NFC East media darlings, best team in football, Eli, best pass rush, blah, blah. blah. Spanked them.
Miami - the wildcat, the wildcat, the wildcat. Trap game. Saints struggle 1st half, then turn on jets and stun the Dolphins.

And this year, is not just the passing offense, now the Saints have a running game. And this year's defense not only is stopping people, they're scoring points.

What we are seeing right now from the Saints is what we have seen previously from truly dominating teams in other years.

Heck:
- Euphoria started a thread giving props to Reggie!!
- I have given props to Devery!!
- Canton has not mentioned Forte!!

That is how drunk on the koolaid we are.

'Cause the simple man pays the thrills, the bills and the pills that kill

Re: What I miss about this season....

Well I'll try and change that for you.

Actually I think some of it is still here you just haven't been looking in the right threads. I always disagree with second guessing Payton. That man has got serious balls for his play calling. So unconventional... example:

I mean who calls a freakin reverse inside the Red Zone! 10 freakin yard line that ends up going back to the 21 yard line at one point!!! Are you kidding me. Horrible play call right? So horrible a play call that the Dolphins were completely caught off guard.

Now if we lost yards on it he would be crucified. Those play calls is what makes Payton Payton.

B_Dub made a good point, we have been building this team to dominate for over three years and like a good chess game the plan is coming together.

I don't miss losing, not one bit. Finally for once every other team can get out of our way or be the next bug on our Golden windshield.

What i love about that play call is that from now until the end of the season it is on tape for every opponent.

When the Saints line up in the offset I formation in the red zone every defense has that reverse in mind. That play started with a lead fullback and play action to the halfback.

Now Payton can give it to Pierre or go with play action pass and that reverse tape is going to hold defenders for a split second.

It opens up lots of possibilities way beyond the single TD.

And Payton is building quite a library of these things. You can see the plays he runs early in the game just to plant an idea in the opposing defense's mind. Sometimes he comes back to them in the same game or saves them for a later on. This late game reverse is going to come in handy down the road.
