You'll never walk alone
On January 22nd 1981 I committed my undying allegiance to The saints. This of course was the day Bum took over coaching duties. Originally from NJ and currently in DC I am slowly making my way to The Gulf. As you probably know there are not a lot of Who Dats this far North. On all my vehicles I have a at least one Saints sticker. Driving in DC one day stuck in traffic due to road work and this huge dude appears at my window. Scared the Hell out of me
but when I looked up at him he was wearing a Saints hard hat. At the time it was Jackson, Swilling and Mills that we briefly talked about. As the lane opened up he said to me hey man "You'll Never Walk Alone". Through all the years I have never forgotten that. Heres a guy working on a road crew in Redskin territory with A Saints hard-hat. |

The New Orleans Saints are as much a culture, a lifestyle and represent a way of life as they are a football team. It's our way. We even have fans who are not from here or have ever been here (ask members here like Cantonlegend). Anyway, thanks for sharing this! |

You actually be surprised how many Saints fan are in that area. Bethesday MD there is an IRISH PUB which is the Saints bar up there. I ran into several fans there from time to time. I think because the DC area is more or less a transplant area people move up there from all over with the Government and military.

My friend Tony is from Bakersfield California, and he is probably the most die hard Saints fan, I've met in my life. He's got a fleur de lis tattoo on his forearm! I don't even think he's ever been to N.O., but, we have made a pact, that if the NFC Championship is in the Easy, we WILL be there, and louder than everybody!

Re: You'll never walk alone
Aside from my family members I've yet to run across any saints fans in my neck of the woods in WV. Though the guy working at the sports shop says theres another one in town that always comes in looking for the same things i do. We've yet to cross paths, but im sure itll happen at some point. Either way ill sport my saints gear among all these steelers, browns, and bengals fans, even if i have to do it alone.

A lot of Saints fans in the Austin/San Antonio are as well, despite JerryCurl's team up I-35 that once was America's team.

Re: You'll never walk alone
I am in N.C. these days after 1 year in Iraq 3 in S.F. and the rest of my life on the gulf, but yesterday in Charlotte I had my Saints hat on and more than one person walked up to me and shook my hand and said how happy they were for the Saints. "WE ARE NEW ORLEANS!"

Very cool story. Here on the Northshore you can't go 10 feet without seeing something Saints. I'm not sure how it got this way.
