Back before the season started there was a debate about whether we really needed Jenkins, who was holding out. I remember the poster said he was too slow to play corner and people here were dissing that person and asking what "credentials" he had to be able to make that statement. For the past few weeks, in almost every opposing team's highlight plays you can see that number 27 getting burned. He was so bad tonight we would have been better off playing 10 on defense. I'll never doubt that poster's "credentials" again. He was right.

Jenkins did look bad, but he hasn't given up as many big plays as Jason. I think we would've won with Greer, but the defense wasn't the problem today. Brees, Bushrod, and Payton deserve most of the credit for today's loss, with honorable mention to Henderson.

I agree it was a terrible game for him. I don`t want to comment about his play any further because mostly it will be based on anger. But yes he is too slow to cover fast wide outs such as Austin.

Also, David was not a rookie. He was a high priced free agent. Big difference. We hired David to fill a hole. We drafted Jenkins to groom and he was forced into action by injury.

Unfortunately, they have him playing corner and he isn't fast enough. We have no chance with him on the field.

Hes a rookies and CBs take a lot of time to develop. Besides, at least you can see the Jenkins in the highlights, David wasnt even close enough to the receiver to be on the screen.

jenkins got beat once bad......the rest of the game he played fine

the game was not on his shoulders.....he did fine

with safety help the TD never would've happened

the fact that you even compared jenkins to jason david.....whether you were jokin or not......just shows how emotional you are after this loss

nobody played well......there wasnt 1 good thing to take away from this game......not 1......so blame jenkins if you wish.....but jenkins didnt drop a wide open pass in the middle of the end zone......jenkins didnt fumble the ball twice or throw an INT or let drew get hit 100000 times

You hit the nail on the head, CL. There was so much more to this loss than just Jenkins. There is no way he should take all this heat....I think he's been playing pretty well for a rookie who has been thrust into the starting line-up when the team has been down two starters at the position for a while now.

I didn't know I had to clear it with you first but now that you mention it, I think you were one of the people questioning the original poster's "credentials". I need to go back and find that thread and see how many people didn't know what they were talking about.

Jenkins didn't cost us the game more so the team played flat until the 4th QTR and Ware did a number on Bushrod.

Jenkins is a ROOKIE. That means that the kid is going to go through some growing pains. You can't just start judging him after a few games and say that he wasn't worth the pick. You follow that line of logic, then we all should have written Robert Meachem off after his rookie season.

Besides, I didn't hear you *****ing and moaning after we beat New England and he played a hell of a game. Where was all this talk then?!?!

it isn't a question of speed, more like positioning and biting on pump fakes. The long TD, he stopped on his tracks until he saw the ball come out, by then it was too late.

We all have been spoiled with the play of Tracy Porter. Tracy Porter is a rarity. Not every CB comes in the league and makes the immediate impact he has had.

.. and Jenkins don't play offense. 3 points in 3+ quarters?

In the Patriots game, he was matched up with Wes Welker, another player who is quick but not fast. That was a good match up. Unfortunately, the only way we'll see Wes Welker again is in the Super Bowl and we won't get there with Jenkins playing corner.

Stupidest comment I have read since I have been a member. A ROOKIE cb taken in the teens not at #1 overall. He is one we knew would have to learn at cb or safety. This is the same guy people were praising on special teams.So we lost. Suck it up and drive on. 13-1 is still a good record and we still hold the keys.

You guys amaze me. With all ur wisdom, u still display optimism. The defense lost this game, from the first play til the last. We got our butts kicked, from the beginning til the end. It wasn't close, it wasn't a "good game". Reallity is here. Win or go home. What will this saints team do? We will see.

We lost a game. Get over it. Am I still optimistic? Yeah, this team can still beat any team in the league. I don't think that's a silly assumption. We have a lot of injuries and played like total garbage, and we still almost won the game. The defense needs to get Sedrick Ellis and Jabari Greer back and I think we'll be fine. Fact is, we only gave up 24 points, and that's really not too bad considering we turned the ball over three times.

Are there things we need to work on? Absolutely. We need to get more pressure on the QB, we need to stop playing like crap in the first half, we need to tackle better. There are quite a few things, but I think all of them can be fixed. Blaming a rookie cornerback for the loss is stupid, period. This was a team loss, but I think this team will bounce back.

valauble learning experience for jenkins i hope payton and company are right but i see him as future d. sharper with bigger hits in the outfield.

Jenkins can't get by just on his physical skills on the NFL level. If he's going to play CB, he has ALOT to learn. McKenzie could be a good tutor for him. McKenzie got by without great speed and played top flight football for a long time.
