Sources confirm the New Orleans Saints have signed Deuce McAllister

League sources have confirmed that the New Orleans Saints have signed Deuce McAllister, one of the most popular players in team history.

In seven seasons with the Saints McAllister rushed for 6,069 yards and 49 touchdowns and averaged 4.3 yards per carry. To make room for McAllister, the Saints placed defensive tackle Rodney Leisle to injured reserve.

He played three games in 2007 and parts of 13 games in 2008. In 2008, he had 107 carries for 418 yards and five touchdowns.

The rumors are flying around the facility as we speak with possible announcement at 1 pm.

If Sean could give him a couple of well designed plays with some running room that would be fantastic. The energy in the Dome would be tremendous. Outside of Drew he is my all time favorite Saint. Wouldn't we have to cut someone else to make room?

My guess is Rodney leslie's knee is worse off and he will be cut and that opens up a roster spot.

I hope that's not the case, but it's only been 20 days and you know the Cards D will be aiming for those ribs. Maybe they don't want to ride his ribs for 20 carries this week, and want to give him fewer carries and time to heal before next week. In any case, Deuce's legs have had a year+ to rest and maybe that's enough to get back enough of his trucking form to make this worthwhile. The dome would be crazy with him in the game at all (not that its not already gonna be crazy).

Where is this news- I am not seeing it. I am not sure it is PT so much, as maybe MB. He hasn't seemed right, like he has trouble cutting lately. Maybe his knee is sprained- not sure? If all three are healthy- is deuce coming in for FB? Link to the news???

Maybe Loomis and SP have a bet as to whether it is actually possible for crowd noise to blow the top off the Dome. Seriously though, if Deuce were to be active and his name called the Cards are going to crap themselves because the crowd is going to go insane.

i think its kind of a joke. hes taking up a roster spot and he probably wont ever see the field. last year i remember payton not wanting to give duece the ball on 3rd and short or 4th and short, because he didnt take the short yardage carries in practice. so now u expect me to believe hes goin to play a deuce that has sat on his couch the entire season. i dont like this idea at all. yeah the fans will love it, but what will it do to our other 4 rbs and our locker room as a whole. yeah he was a good guy, but really? do we need him?

I don't think they are looking for a missing link but a spark for the fans maybe or even a FB. He just doesn't have the speed but as a FB who could catch out of the back field... even pound for a couple of yards up the middle...

Just what we need really.

He's on the roster here. We'll have to see if he's active tomorrow. If so I'm sure Deuce will help out at FB, TE, DE or special teams wherever he's needed. But I think our four other tailbacks will and should stay active, they all have important roles.

Yep and I wouldn't doubt that he gets some carries. Maybe SP and crew see something in the Cards defense that says a big back will exploit it all day long. Whooohooo!!!

Like the move, but with no playing time wouldn't you thing SP would have a few question regarding ball security? Just due to not having had any playing time in over a year.

If he is on the active roster for the game, he may not see a carry; but if he does the Dome will go CRAZY.

SP already stated that starters may play on ST in the playoffs.
