While the much larger Miami may be seen as more of a tourist destination for Who Dats traveling down for the big game, officials in Ft. Lauderdale are trying to entice the Who Dat nation to spend a few dollars in their area.
Convention and tourism bureau spokesman Alfredo Gonzales says there are still many hotel rooms available in Ft. Lauderdale not far from the stadium. He also says that while the two metro areas are partners in tourism, the lower crime rate in Ft. Lauderdale might make for a more relaxed visit for Saints fans. Much has been made of the ban on tailgating near the stadium, and of the ban on open containers in Miami. Years ago, Ft. Lauderdale cracked down on outdoor drinking, mostly to deter a reputation as a wild Spring Break town. Now, Gonzales says his city has relaxed open-container laws for streets near the beach for the duration of the Super Bowl weekend. Re: Ft. Lauderdale Say's to Who Dats: Come here instead of Miami to party!
Ft. Lauderdale blows. They have weird laws that allow your car to be towed from your hotel's parking lot and impounded. I know because my was towed for parking across a yellow line in the parking lot and it took me days to get it back at about $1000.
I wouldn't piss on Ft. Lauderdale if it was on fire. |

Ahhh, if I was a little younger, and had more money of course, I would be down there with you guys. One thing I've noticed as I get older, hangovers last a lot longer.

Spent several SPring Breaks in Lauderdale before they craked down. Even did a couple of Rugby tournaments down there. I ALWAYS had a lot of fun.
Sorry foreverfan - that had to suck!! |
