A little humor in geography class today...
I am taking a Geography of Popular Culture class at LA Tech. Today started our last section of lectures for our last exam which covers nothing but sports. The origin of soccer was the first sport we covered at length. Our professor spoke about how, in 793 AD, Vikings attacked monasteries in Lindisfarne, England, because the monks had a lot of gold and weren't very good fighters. Vikings sacking English villages went on for centuries, but the Anglo-Saxons finally decided to fight back. Sometimes they defeated the Vikings, and sometimes they lost. Regardless, whenever the Vikings left the town, the town residents would defile the bodies of the deceased Vikings. They would sever a head and kick it around town. I couldn't contain myself anymore when he said the Anglo-Saxons finally stood up for themselves and started beating the Vikings to death and defiling their bodies. I mumbled under my breath "That just happened a couple of weeks ago in New Orleans". He stopped his lecture and asked me to repeat what I said. After I repeated it louder for him and the rest of the class to hear, he bent over laughing for a minute and then started writing something down on his attendance sheet. He said that he enjoyed that comment so much, that he gave everyone in the class five bonus points. He isn't even a Saints' fan, but at the end of the lecture his final powerpoint slide said two words...."Who Dat!"

Good story. You know that you now have to recommend that instructor to everybody.
I graduated from Tech in 98 myself. Electrical Engineering. |

Gr8 story. And yes, I have always enjoyed kicking severed Viking heads from village to village - because I couldn't get their pants on the ground

It's definitely never too late. I started back at the age of 30. I will be 34 next month and a senior after this quarter. LA Tech even did an article on me a couple of months ago for non-traditional students. It was the best decision I ever made in my life.
