That would be an improvement over Harper...

If the Saints stay where they are it'll be either Ricky Sapp, DE Clemson; Jared Odrick, DE/DT Penn State; or,
Jerry Hughes, LB TCU...

I like Hughes motor...

what gives you that impression?

roy williams has played 8 seasons while harper has played only 4 and has over 10 more tackles per season

harper already has as many sacks

harper has 6 fumbles forced compared to williams' 9

harper has averages 6.5 passes defensed per year compared to williams 5 per year

oh and roman harper has a super bowl ring.....roy williams has 0

i know stats arent everything but what about williams says hes better than harper? thats absurd to even think that

Think B.S. (Before Sharper)
PI Calls; Harper and Jason David chasing AFTER post patterns; his instincts are awful and he doesn't consistently "bring the wood"...
We need a Strong Safety and if Mays does fall, he'd be an improvement...

Strong Safety is our weakest link on defense...

Well well well, our "weakest link" was tendered as a 1st rounder. Maybe he's not as bad as you think?

Re: 2010 NFL Draft

one thing everybody needs to remember is that the saints scout ohio and other midwestern products very heavily

since sean payton came to the saints, they have drafted 5 players out of the state of ohio alone in only 4 years

the lowest pick out of ohio was antonio pittman who was a 4th rounder

if you want to predict where our draft picks are going to come from......look at prospects in or around ohio......think pennsylvania, michigan, indiana, and illinois......even north carolina has a few picks

also remember we have not picked any players from LSU or texas

Actually I think he likes USC the most. With Tennessee close behind.

Honestly though. I don't think they really give a rat's azz where picks come from. As long as they can play ball.

How about USF?

im sure he doesnt care......i was just saying that if you wanted to guess, its a good bet to think that at least one of our picks will come from ohio and it will be an early round pick

Danno bro, I would L-O-V-E to get a R1 pick for Harper...

I would be Farmer Fran ecstatic to get a R1 pick for Harper...

Only problem is...we get better value with our 4R and 7R picks?!?

I think it's just leverage for a trade of Harper...

I'd take a 1st too, but my point is he's a lot better than many thought. If he was truly the "weakest link", no way would any team give up a 1st rounder for him. Not even the Raiders are that stupid. Well thats debatable.

If he was truly the weak link we would bait other teams with a reasonable tender, like a 3rd rounder, or even a 2nd rounder.

If no one bites we pay him a lot of money for 1 year. You don't bait teams to sign a weak link with a 1st round tender. You typically do that because you want to keep him, or you want to encourage him to sign a long term contract.

In my opinion a 2nd round tender would have been best. If another team offers him an appropriate contract, we can match it or get a 2nd rounder in return.

The staff wants to keep him, and if they do lose him they're gonna get a 1st rounder for him.

I'd liked to see Hughes in Black and Gold, seems like a DE/OLB tweener that GW would love to have on this team

Re: 2010 NFL Draft

I like Harper.

Remember that clip of...Roger Craig, I think it was...when he went back to the 49er huddle after being hit by Vaughn Johnson and said, "Who was that guy...I don't want to get hit by that guy again."?

I think alot of guys come away from hits by Harper saying, "Who is that guy?" Won't happen much longer, though...cause they're gonna know damn well who that guy is.

With that being said, there is enough room on this roster for JG, TP, MJ, DS, and RH, IMO.
