Sharper "Not feeling the love" from Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I said this earlier guys, and I'm going to say it again. I don't blame ANYONE for wanting to get paid for a good job done, scheme, or no scheme, HE did the work, not us, and not the coaching ...

for a good job done, scheme, or no scheme, HE did the work, not us, and not the coaching staff, or management.
Everyone wants to get paid for their work. If u guys want to think this way, then how about every player, for every
team, get paid the exact same amount? If its a team game, then how about the entire team get paid the same?
We all know that isn't going to happen. Players who get the bigger paychecks, get them because they earned them.
Sharper earned this, I mean COME ON. We were all going nuts over this guy, almost the entire season, and now
we are turning on him, questioning HIS loyalty? This is ridiculous. He did the job asked of him, now he deserves
to get paid for it. That's it.

What's popular is not always right, and what's right is not always popular.....

Hold on a second, he got paid by the saints last year when nobody else would pay him. He's not worth what he wants. I have no problem with players wanting the big pay day, but don't you dare say that he hasn't been shown the love! We took him in when nobody wanted him, and yes he did an excellent job. So, if he wants to get his ass kicked in Chicago or wherever, go for it Sharp! He's not our future anyway, so get a good front seven, so we have a pass rush. Greer and Porter on the corners, and i'll take jenkins at safety.

Like I said, Porter and Greer had more to do with his success than he had to do with theirs.
I find it funny how some players b*tch and moan when their team puts the franchise tag, and Sharper was damn near begging us to do it. Now that he has his freedom he is upset that we are letting him test the market. At some point the realization of the situation will become apparent. No team is going to over extend in years or dollars in this economy on a 34 year old safety.

i completely agree...

i would take less (but comparable for the field) money to work in san diego than more money to work in alabama...that simple. who wouldn't want that?

Loomis to WWL this morning:

Loomis: "I got all the love in the world for Darren Sharper. I just don’t have all the money in the world for Darren.....

Greed is thicker than loyalty. You can give loyalty but don't expect it in return. I wonder how many Saints jerserys with the #44 were sold? We embraced him and this is how it ends? I guess the Super Bowl doesn't mean anything to him either.

Re: Sharper "Not feeling the love" from Saints

I wonder how much of the 2009 success was Darren Sharper being a lot better than anyone thought, or Gregg Williams defense making just about any above average FS look phenominal.

Personally I think Gregg Williams and Sean Payton know exactly how much of the success was really Darren Sharper and how much was really Gregg Williams.

IIRC, there was very little interest in Sharper last off-season and I think he was our 2nd choice. I know we offered Sensabaugh a 3 year deal.

Re: Sharper "Not feeling the love" from Saints

Confused here??????
Why so hard on Sharper? Just asking, just asking. The tone of this thread is rather odd.
Yeah, the guy is 34 and just came off a SB winning team.
He wants to use that leverage and the work of his last year to get the biggest pay day he can.
The Saints cannot give him a pay he wants and will not do so and that is fine.
Soooooo, Sharper's (agents) will shop him around out there for the biggest pay day he can get.
So what if he ends up at Buffalo, Detroit or worst?
He'll play for big pay a year and call it a career over. Afterbeing part of a SB winning team, there is really no place to go but to the bank.
Another SB win or try for any team is very hard to do.
Fujita is in Cleveland.
Hey, the same thing Sharper is doing, Fujita did and we all wished him well etc.
Why not the same thing for Sharper?
This is the NFL ( Not For Long).
All of this loyalty talk and talk on how Sharper should look for the less pay day he can get is really silly.
Would you if you were Sharper ? No.
Would you if you were Fujita? No.

In my opinion, I don't care if he goes or not. He's pissing me off with the "their not showing the love" comments. I'll show him the love, a good kick in his ass. I like Sharper, but he's not handling this the right way. Keep your mouth shut and let your agent and the front office work out the deal. Fujita didn't say **** till he had signed with the Browns and his deal was done. More class, more respect!
