Poydras
"I still say that's what we need the most; a really fast corner that can keep up with receivers on our artificial surface. Says he posted a 4.38 forty which is very good. We already have a couple of corners that are just quick. re: Malcolm Jenkins "

somebody else picked corner too but i think it was just a side comment like

"dont be surprised if we go corner either"

but honestly....this was as big a surprise as the onside kick

I know C..but it makes the most sense...when you think about the Sharper situation...and the injury concern from last year ..and not to metion the attacking D we run under Williams...we need lock down corners to do that...but it was a shocker at first...i hit several off notes at my gig after we picked...

idk about the most sense.....but i definitly understand the pick

besides.....its a lot easier to get mad at roger goodell standing up there and reading off a card than it is to get mad at the super bowl MVP standing up there reading our future

From the footage I seen, he seems to read plays very well. And he tackles very well. I'm all for it. Let's wait and see what the kid can do, before we look to string up Loomis.

Remember the day that the coach would've picked Ricky Willaims and given away Shreveport to get him?

:^/

Thank goodness those days are gone.

I said they would pick Kareem Jackson because of the value. Thought he may slide. The way things fell, I didn't think they would take Robinson.

Re: Poydras You nailed it

Thanks! I'd be doing my little "happy dance" except for the fact that we made the same mistake as last year and picked a corner that's too slow to play in the NFL. I don't think we solved our problem. After the fast corners came off the board right in front of us, I was hoping for a replacement for Scott Fujita.

You guys better be glad they didn't pick Kindle or I would have never let you forget it. Hey Poydras good call and I didn't really even think about it until they made the pick. It makes alot of sense now. Congrats dude

Agreed and Mayock says the guy(Robinson) is very inconsistent. he never played the same from week to week. He is slow for the league. I really wanted to go with Sergio Kindle at that spot or even Brian Price. I think this is another corner who due to lack of speed is better suited to play saftey. He will never cover the mosses, austins and waynes of the NFL.

I for one will **running for cover from lighting** disagree with this pick. I HATE IT!!! I wish Brees would have audibled at the podium.

But having said that I do trust our FO and Coaches they just WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!

AW shucks you went to the well once to often... 2nd Round to high for a long snapper. it will be another deffensive guy probablly a run stuffer.

um ... You knew I was joking..... right? I'm actually guessing OLB with the next pick. We need a replacement for Scott.

I really don't think that will happen. We just signed Wilkerson at DE. The need isn't there, but it is at DT. Terrance Cody, Brian Price, Lamarr Houston, Linval Joseph or even Al Woods are more likely prospects.

People Kindle got a few issues ...why do you think he slid..believe me im a Longhorn to the bone and proud of this draft...but there is a reason he is still there...Now with that said Kindle is a baller and will be a good LB..but not great..I can see him going in the middle of the second..

I agree if were gonna rob the Longhorns Houston would be the best pick...

Isn't Kindle more fit to play as a 3-4 LB than a 4-3? I see him as either that or a traditional 4-3 DE.

Yep...did you see the Championship game verses Bamma?...Kindle was on fire ..i will give him that...but he has some red flags that scared off some teams..

But we still have our entire defensive line from the team that won the Super Bowl and only list a 32 year old behind Fujita on our depth chart. Isn't his replacment our highest priority now?

Exactly! A big body in the middle will make the whole LB corps better behind them. While I loved Fujita and he will be missed he is no more than an average NFL OLB. With a good line and a good secondary you can plug players in at SLB or WLB.

... but aren't weak side and strong side more specialized now? They aren't really interchangable are they?

I meant that with a good line and secondary the two outside LB positions can be more easily manned by average LB's. Yes, they are specialized in most 4-3 defenses.

Maybe, but our only draft pick this year that will step off the plane and into the starting line-up is Fujita's replacement. Still seems to me that person is our newest priority.

Not necessarily. Solid LB's are routinely found in the middle rounds. Fujita, for example, was only a 5th round selection himself.

Re: Poydras You nailed it

Also, only two LB's have been taken to this point. That leaves a ton of talented LB's left on the board.
