Yet another reason why Brooks needs to get benched and trade
The only thing that sucked about the game was Guerin getting his ass beat in the first 10 seconds of the game. It was so out of character, I was curious if he was on any pain meds, but Erskine made up for it by putting the smackdown on Burnett a little later. The game was never close, but was still fun.

Yet another reason why Brooks needs to get benched and trade
I can understand where someone who doesn\'t know much about hockey would say that watching a 1-1 tie is boring, but the what you need to look at is \"shots on goal\" as the determining factor of a good game instead of the score. As long as the tempo is upbeat and there are plenty of shots I usually enjoy the game.
My biggest problem with it, and I know I\'m in the minority on this, is the fighting. I see that as a complete waste of time and often a momentum killer. It\'s a part of the game because people seem to like it, but I find it classless and boorish. And I wont get started on NASCAR other than to say that if you think it is just a bunch of cars going around in circles, you don\'t understand what you are watching. Take the time to learn the dynamics of the sport. |

You\'re right, I didn\'t have my coffee this morning, so I\'ve been at about 50% brain power this morning, and that is being generous. If they were smaller it would defeat my original argument. But euro leagues\' rinks are bigger, and thus has more ice, which means the players are more spread out, and less confrontations. But I still believe that a fight can be a momentum killer. Let\'s say the opposing team just scored back to back goals, and have been successful at keeping the puck in your end of the ice. I\'m sending out my biggest goon to stomp a mudhole into someone because a) if he is the clear victor, that can be a boost to my teams moral, b) I\'ve just knocked the wind out of the opposing team for beating one of thier players, and if we\'re playing on the road, I\'ve taken the fans out of the game temporarily, c) I\'ve got a stoppage that allows me to modify my game plan in order to counter the opposing team, and d) It takes two to tango, so no fear of a power play.

ok, I see that point. But, there still will be a power play. The instigator gets a major and the other one gets a minor. Plus it\'s usually the goons that fight the goons, not goons going after good players.
I guess I\'m used to looking at it from the losing end of it. When we\'re down, it\'s great to see a fight and see our team get all hyped up again. But your points are very valid as well. |

If I understood hockey, it would be alright. I just don\'t see why they have to beat those poor horses? :calim:
By the way do any of you know a four letter word for horse hockey? |
